You’re retarded if you wouldn’t take a massive hantavirus pandemic seriously.

IF it were to happen the 50% mortality rate is bad. People will have to comply with stay at home, masking, social distancing and shutdown orders. You could make a case with something that deadly that anyone not complying with those things should be charged with attempted murder knowingly putting others at high risk of a highly deadly disease

Right, hantavirus is too deadly to become a full blown pandemic

This is the positive side. It’s unlikely to become airborne and spread rapidly so it should be able to be properly contained

Well that’s just false. It’s not too far off from average mortality of smallpox and pretty sure that spread just fine.

It’ll peter out just because it’s not that contagious. Not because it’s too deadly.

It’s not like Ebola that’ll have you bleeding to death in like 5 days after being infectious.

Average global IFR of Covid was ~0.15%.

So in 6-short years we’ve gone from not deadly enough (but global pandemic response anyway), to too deadly for a pandemic response.

So we’ll see.

It is a different bug. It's transmissible human-to-human, but just barely.

That’s what the gain-of-function is for.

Covid was too recent for people to fall for this again

I still see some people wearing facemasks in the midsize college town where I work. Some are still on the Covid grind in 2026.

I will do exactly as I did with Covid…not participate and keep living my life.

Or, hear me out on this, if you’re overly concerned about dying from this virus, you could just lock yourself in your basement until it’s over.

Chinese are having an ongoing dispute with Argentina. Curious how a previously was only transmissible through exposure to contaminated droppings became human to human...

Just saying it's curious how that keeps happening...
