Based on this layout, DM opened her door for the 3rd time and presumably came face to face with the killer as he was walking from the bedroom into the living room before leaving.

He would have had to cut through the living room, into the kitchen, and out the sliding door.

If she was standing in her doorway, I could see how he might not have noticed her and was just trying to get out of the house, depending on the lighting and what not.

What is kind of startling is that if she knew he left through the sliding door onto the outside porch, it looks like there is a door from the porch back into her room.

Maybe she was freaking out that he would come back into her room from that door?

So using this blueprint...assumption is he entered and exited via the sliding glass door in the kitchen?

He would have come in there, waled through the kitchen-->foyer--living room-->up the stairs and killed Kaylee and Madison.

He would then have come down the stairs, walked through the living room-->laundry room-->into the bedroom to kill Xana and Ethan.

He then walked back through the laundry-->living-->passed Dylan's room-->foyer-->kitchen and out the sliding glass door.

As he was coming down the stairs, did he hear something in Xana's room, so he went to investigate? Did Ethan and Xana hear him upstairs/hear one of the girls or the dog? Did Ethan come out to investigate and see him coming down the stairs and get followed back in to the bedroom?

IIRC Kernodle's had dad said she put up a big fight. She had just ordered food and was likely the victim "most awake", so it's possible she fought back enough where it injured him to the point where he left instead of attacking D.M.

Also, note the affidavit doesn't state the source of his DNA from the knife sheath. I would assume epithilial cells, but maybe it was blood and if it was there may be more extensive blood evidence of his at the scene.

I wouldn't, I've seen another blueprint and it's not like this one exactly. I don't think this one is correct in some ways.

Eta: this is closer to what I've seen elsewhere

Yeah, so that's vastly different.

Stairs to the third floor were right by Dylan's room. No reason for him to be anywhere near Xana and Ethan, unless he went all the way down to the first floor at some point.

you do realize that sometimes people who are eventually found guilty are initially cleared? I aint saying shes involved but its hard to fathom she just went to sleep

Nothing has been made public aboot her private thoughts that night. That being said, there are local, state and federal investigators involved, that are satisfied with her reasoning. There are still many here trying to finagle their lack of understanding into her being involved.

The LEO's appear to have done a bang-up job on this one.

Yeah, I'll admit, mine may be wrong too. Just want you to know there are others circulating.

I heard he festooned the bedroom with their entrails like Bill the Butcher. Probably just a rumor

Whatever her reasoning is, she has satisfied LEO's questions and was one of the first people cleared publicly.

I keep remembering the caretaker in the guest cottage during the Sharon Tate murders. He supposedly never heard anything, multiple gunshots, a couple of victims fighting and fleeing outside and being bludgeoned and repeatedly stabbed. Watson missed finding him, even though he shot the young guy leaving who had been there trying to sell the caretaker some stereo equipment. First thing LE did was suspect the caretaker but he was cleared quickly from what I can remember. But obviously was awake because the stereo guy had literally just walked back to his car and was leaving when Tex and the women were walking up the driveway.

I'll go along with it, since I foster cats and dogs...

Googlemaps blurred the images of the house and the neighbors house, why?

I don't think the above diagrams are right. One of the girls was asleep on the bottom floor. It could have been on the couch, but it seems like the most likely door to enter was on the ground floor? I was looking on google maps to see how easy it was to get to the 2nd floor. There's sliding glass doors there but its a deck from what I can tell and maybe a raised deck as in you can't walk out to the the ground from there? Obviously you could jump or something.

I don't know how close the pings are, but that area they lived is definitely off the main roads. Looks like all college student area with a bunch of shitty duplexes and tons of cars parked everywhere. Not a through street as far as one would take unless you were intentionally driving by a house there.

I can't tell you how many times I called the serial killer tip line back in the early 2000s.

In college, I once had my brother come to my apartment with his gun drawn because I was SURE someone had broken in and was downstairs. The dryer was on.

However I can also see the college kid who would never think about an intruder. I likely wouldn't if I lived in BFE Idaho either - I am sure it is low with violent crime.

This thread is starting to remind me of Gabby Petito.

1/2 the board thought Laundrie was innocent.

The other 1/2 thought he burried her in the rose garden in the parents back yard.

You really need to stop talking and go back and do several hours worth of research on this like most of us have.

How did the perp know his way around the house, who was in what room, in the dark, assuming he'd never been there before?

It could be that she was dead sober but had lost her cell phone, left it in her car, or didn’t have it in her room for some reason. Her phone may have been dead and her charger was elsewhere. Not having her phone and being scared could make you sit there for 6 hours.

Only note, in the affidavit it states she was on social media on her phone at that time which lines up with her story.

We know he exited through the sliding glass door on the second floor. It's reasonable to assume that's how he entered as well.
