I was torn between these two and picked PM because of its close association with arcades, which were in their prime in the ‘80s. SMB also has had so many sequels and adaptations that even though it originated in the ‘80s its influence expands much further. PM is more concentrated in the ‘80s.

80s for me and but man there is a lot to pick from
1. Top Gun, Raiders, Fast Times, Empire, Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and a lot more great movies
2. Streetfighter
3. Michael Jackson and all the 80s rock hair bands
4. Wonder Years and Dukes
5. Reagan and Mandella
6. Challenger explosion and Berlin Wall
7. this one kinda hard to quantify but I would say the one single character would be Indiana Jones

lucky bastard. I was a teenager during the nigh-cultural wasteland that was the mid/late-2000's.

what would you choose as the best representative of the decade most closely associated with your youth?
Born in 85, so youth would be the 90s. This is nearly impossible to pick one true answer.
1. Movie - Good Lord idk. From my actual YOUTH probably lion king but I wouldn't call that the most representative of the 90s. I have no idea
2. TV Show - Seinfeld
3. Band / Artist - "most representative" I guess you could go with nirvana or maybe even one of the pop people that took the world over like britney spears?
4. Video Game - Goldeneye for N64
5. Person - Yeesh. Bill Clinton? Idk
6. Fictional Character - No clue
7. Historic Moment - Hmmm. Idk
I'm not very good at this
eta: I see a lot of good answers already been posted for 90s.
