You’re right. I read that sentence too quickly and missed that he became an American citizen in 2024. That’s on me.
But that doesn’t rescue your larger argument. ICE is not systematically detaining naturalized citizens by the thousands simply because of their appearance, and you still haven’t provided any evidence that it is.
His decision to carry extra documentation because he is afraid is not evidence of an ICE “wide dragnet.” Frankly, you’re participating in the same fearmongering by taking his voluntary precaution and turning it into dramatic hypotheticals about jail cells and attorneys.
So, let’s reset. You caught a reading mistake. Congrats. This is now the second time you’ve completely ignored my previous post asking you to support your characterization of a “wide net.”
Are you going to address that argument or pivot again?

You are the problem not the solution. The sooner you grasp that the better off you and the country will be

So, long story short... a police officer and an ICE agent checked his identification and said he was good-to-go. Another ICE agent checked his identification and told hiim he believes it was fake. It was not fake. His place of employment has cameras and it's believed that captured the interaction. I have no idea if it would have audio, but if it comes out I'll post a link.
The kid has a job. a job he had to have a valid ID and social security number to get....his employer should have all that on record. If he used another social security number to get a job, that's one thing....but I-9s are a thing and all that information is verified in the process.

There's a lot of evidence of this approach is you're willing to look. You can start with the posters -- that are far from left wing people -- in this very thread saying they've witnessed ICE just rounding up a large group of workers etc.
Again, I've not seen anyone in this thread that's simply against ICE deporting illegal aliens. I'm certainly not -- even if I think HB-1 visas are a much larger problem if we're really addressing middle class jobs and money circulating more in local communities instead of Western Unioned across the globe. ICE has been around and deporting people for at least 2 decades.
What many are criticizing are some of their recent methods that seem run roughshot of American ideals not to mention the constitution.

I am sorry you are taking it hard. The US is in massive debt and isn’t the Salvation Army for the rest of the World no matter how much that hurts your feelings. You can believe that we as a nation can afford to absorb millions of people all you want but it doesn’t make it true. This is just one of the many life lessons you will learn moving forward

My girlfriend is NYC born Puerto Rican from a family that's been here nearly 100 years. She's terrified of being in any place she thinks ICE could just round her up and then sort it out a few days later.
I've also had Italian and Spanish friends come every summer for years to my house in Pensacola. Many haven't come the past two years simply out of fear of ending up caught up in some ICE raid.
Of all the things that never happened, these things didn't happen the most.

Apply everything you said to Trump and Texas politicians embracing HB-1 visas and we're making some great progress in actually solving some stuff.
And also: let ICE deport all the illegals they can find like they've been doing for 2 decades without extra leeway to detain people without a lawyer etc that are actually here legally. I'm all for ICE deporting illegals just like they've done for ages. I'm not for them being able to run rough shot over basic constitutional principles. That's a slippery slope and downright un-American.

ICE is 100% doing this. I've seen it with my own eyes. They are going to heavily frequented Hispanic areas, rounding everyone up and then figuring out who is legal/illegal after. Its very unconstitutional. I have no issue with deporting illegals. I have a huge issue with the methods being practiced to achieve this goal.

No, I don’t think I will. I’ll do as I please and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Who are you again? (who’s alter, specifically)

What exactly did you witness with your own eyes? How many people were detained? How many turned out to be American citizens? How did you determine ICE had no warrants, intelligence, or reasonable suspicion before approaching them?
Seeing ICE operate in a heavily Hispanic area does not prove they were “rounding everyone up” based on appearance and sorting it out afterward. You witnessed an operation. You did not somehow witness every agent’s legal basis for being there.
If ICE is truly detaining entire groups solely because they look Hispanic, then yes, that is unconstitutional and should be stopped. But “I saw it” is an anecdote, not evidence that ICE is systematically detaining naturalized citizens by the thousands.
“ICE is 100% doing this” is an enormous claim. Where are the receipts?

A group of workers being detained during an ICE operation is not, by itself, evidence of a “wide dragnet.” Were they all released after proving legal status? Were any American citizens unlawfully detained? Do you know whether ICE had warrants, intelligence, or probable cause? Simply saying posters witnessed ICE “rounding up a large group” answers none of that.
I agree that H-1B abuse is a massive problem, particularly for American middle-class workers. But it’s difficult to take that concern seriously when you immediately return to vague ICE boogeyman stories about agents running roughshod over the Constitution.
At this point, the H-1B line sounds less like your actual argument and more like an attempt to establish your immigration-enforcement credentials before repeating the same unsupported hyperbole.
So what specifically makes this a “wide dragnet” rather than an ordinary enforcement operation involving multiple people?

Lots of leftist, I mean moderates, clutching their pearls in this thread.
They weren’t concerned while the border under Biden was being overrun and they never show up in the threads to express outrage when a citizen is murdered or killed by an illegal alien.

Lol if you think they’ll go after employers that hire illegals. That would mean that Mar A Lago and Trump Doral would have to close and the president of the United States would have to be arrested.

Yup.
Since wm72 is handing out “un-American” labels today, where was all this concern when Biden’s crooked DOJ was going after J6 grannies and targeting Virginia parents furious over trannies assaulting their daughters in school bathrooms?
Apparently federal overreach only becomes “un-American” when Democrats are no longer directing it.

You leftist are delusional if you don’t think democrats looked at Trump hiring illegals at Mar-a-Lago prior to any of his 3 elections.
Is there any cases or reports of Mar-a-Lago being caught knowingly hiring illegal aliens?

I’m all about getting out illegals. No if’s ands or buts.
Detaining until it’s all checked out and verified is necessary now since it wasn’t done initially when the claim was filed at the border like it should have been.
