This tree isn't from Louisiana. This is Angel Oak outside of Charleston, SC. Largest/oldest oak in North America or something like.

I'm actually surprised those trees can survive out there in general. I'd figure the terrain and lack of water isn't for them.

They're typically pretty hardy. But, as others have said, this drought is wreaking havoc.

It's like a double whammy too. Drought then extreme cold. When I first moved here, there were agaves everywhere. 90 percent have died off because of the cold snaps.

I agree, the whole area north of 35 is decimated

I believe the drought made the oaks more brittle than in the past

I had a nice mature live oak that the ice storm in Br took a couple years ago. It was starting to completely split at the trunk where it splits off into branches. I was lucky it didn’t completely split and hit my house before I could get it cut

Shits melting fast right now. I’m hopeful some will bounce back . It can take all the Cedars .

back before there was an I-49 you had to go through every little podunk town to go from Shreveport to Lafayette, I can't remember the town, either Ville Platte or Opelusas, but there were trees that rival that in the town center of one of those towns

Whatever you say.

I didn't know there was some rule that only specific people can deliver jokes. I'll keep that in mind during my next stand up special.

Yeah, my yard is fricked. I know what I'm doing this weekend.

We already have a group of that will be helping each other, I'm gonna make a ton of chick/sausage gumbo, and another guy is buying a bunch of beer.

If you hear of a group of guys being taken to the hospital this weekend in Georgetown due to chainsaw accidents, then it very well might be us.
