Ft Myers is starting to feel the eye now. That wind is picking up.

How the hell do you secure a cam enough to stay during this wind??

I think they clamped one to power pole in Hackberry that made it for Laura.

I just found out my buddy's brother and parents are riding it out in Siesta Key. That is terrifying.

Mark Studduth pioneered all the unmanned cams you see now. His Hurricane Track on Patreon is worth the donation. He's had a live cam setup like severe studios for years now.

Cam 5 just shows you how sustained the winds of a hurricane are. You imagine this is what it looks like inside of a tornado that lasts a few seconds. This is just pounding and pounding for hours. Truly incredible.

But why? Were people taken by surprise when it didn't go to Tampa for landfall??

Serious talk, kids.

Look at that Cam 9 in Ft Myers. This is why you take storm surge threats seriously. People that stayed behind are completely stuck, with water rising.

Do 60% of homes have a canal in the back? It seems that way from satellite imaging. That has to make the area more flood prone than even many parts of louisiana.

The big difference being that the wind comes from every direction. The mindblowing damage in Smithville, MS on 4/27/2011 happened in a matter of seconds.

People are going to drown in those flats. They are almost all one story. Huge arse neighborhoods of them too.
