Looks like they only have it moving 120 miles in about 24 hours with Tampa being in hour 12 of that 24.

Next main advisory (new cone and all of that) is at 4am CDT. We’ll see if we have a major by then. See y’all in the morning.

If there is a category change they will issue an irregular special advisory at any moment with a full suite of products.

Kinda random, but anyone on here use plastic (ie: visqueen) along with your sand bags to help with flooding?

My man those are both in the line of fire for this Hurricane I will not tell you what to tell them but Ian's current course puts them right in the danger. I just feel bad for the Husband telling the wife with the newborn "Don't worry baby that is normal" and things go south.

eta: Not trying to be a debbie downer but I have been in a hurricane with a wife and young children. Let's just say the stress is overwhelming and the thought of we should have left definitely crossed my mind.

I asked if they were gonna leave and she said they were all adamant about riding it out. The family has a place on Amelia Island and in North Carolina so it's not like they don't have places to go.

I've ridden out a couple that were nowhere near this big and it isn't something I want to do again. I would be gone.

400 miles from side to side? How many miles across was Katrina??

Katrina was about 400 miles wide and the eye wall was 30-40 miles… No way this storm is 400 miles

Interesting analogy...

I had a bone scan done when they were staging my cancer. Both knees were lit up, as expected. I had a 3rd degree separation in right shoulder, so it lit up. But my left shoulder, among other things, was also lit up. I told the doc that I knew I had previous injuries to both knees and my right shoulder, but I thought my left shoulder was okay.

I also had my sternum lit up and, more disturbingly, a spot above my right eye. He just looked at me like I was stupid.

Good times!

I brought the test results to my brother, who is a MD. I'm shitting my pants, because this doesn't look good to the untrained eye. Very pragmatic with a severely limited bedside manner, he tells me that a bone scan is a blunt instrument and they'll know more with further testing. "Don't worry about it."

Then he proceeds to manipulate my forehead. I asked him WTF he was doing and his response was "Just checking to see if I could feel anything."

I'm getting the willies just typing this!

Still a lot to figure out with Ian. Here’s the latest NHC forecast track. Everything has been pointed toward Tampa…except the UKMet…& the 18z runs of the Euro, Icon & HMON all went w/ the Ukie bringing Ian into FL S of Tampa. Interesting.

That would spare Tampa, but suddenly a lot of other people are in the bullseye without much time to prepare

a place on Amelia Island

About 35 miles north of where I am that seems a lot safer than their current location although some models are now saying the hurricane may make landfall further south which is a good thing for the. The only thing I am worried about is loosing power and some flooding but I have a couple generators ready to go.
