Why is the owner responsible for insuring his tenants stuff? Ever heard of a renters policy?
Owner isn’t screwing the guy over, the guy’s lack of proper insurance is screwing him over. shite like this pisses me off because the blame is being pointed everywhere but where it needs to be. This man was not prepared for this yet it is everyone else’s fault he wasn’t prepared?
Not saying you didn’t do a good deed, just saying it shouldn’t be society’s responsibility to pick up the pieces of every single person, especially when they didn’t prepare at all.

I would too. Renting out is a PITA

The moral of the story here is that the government and media wants to push racism down our throats.
How is this the moral of the story? When you first saw the dude you thought you were going to get robbed.

Which is why we normal folks want a social safety net. The exact thing Republicans want to eliminate. Those of us that have been poor know how quickly things can fall apart.

So he didn’t just want the money for crack? He actually got in the cab?
Yup. Good dead.

You need more steps.

12.9 kilometers, 21,873 steps, and only 6 flights. What are you doing? Swinging your arms when you’re standing still?

It doesn’t matter if he was sincere or not. You believed he was in need of help and you answered that call. You were his angel in that moment and it was noticed by the big man upstairs.
Good for you for being a good person. Better than me because I’m always very skeptical and almost never do things like that. I’ve been used and wronged by so many people in life that I almost always ignore people.

Instead of looking for a bus station that doesn't exist, why didn't he just contact local public services for help?
Sounds like you got played.

Because it doesn't sound legitimate. Walking from Panama City to Destin takes weeks? No. It's about 56 miles. He could walk from Panama City to Atlanta, his primary destination in a matter of weeks.
You're telling us that with all of the shelters and charitable groups that went down there that this guy couldn't get help getting to Atlanta weeks ago?
Yeah. None of the OP’s story makes sense. I went to PC 2 weeks after the hurricane and they were getting there shite together pretty quick. I can’t imagine the still don’t have a bus station up and running or some type of shuttles running.
OP has a history of making up stories.

What happened to his tools, house and truck? Panama City didn’t flood. Just a lot of wind damage.
Was he flat broke when the storm hit almost 2 months ago? What’s he been doing for the past 2 months?
How and where did he buy a bus ticket that was 3 weeks old?
Nothing is adding up

The conversion rate from standard to metric steps just makes it look like you walk more.

FLTech, bless you for caring.
Two weeks ago, an elderly man at grocery was $30 short for groceries and I mean real food. He kept his money in a little brown paper bag. Broke my heart. I had pocket money left over from the past week and I paid the $30. He was very grateful. We passed him on the way out, he was headed back to get his little brown bag that he forgot.
