Interesting story and I do think you did a nice thing. The paragraph about the media and racism is a bunch of self righteous nonsense though. There are a lot of people not looking to “help” others out. The media doesn’t fabricate stories of people killing their spouse and children and so on. There is a lot of evil.

Because it doesn't sound legitimate. Walking from Panama City to Destin takes weeks? No. It's about 56 miles. He could walk from Panama City to Atlanta, his primary destination in a matter of weeks.

You're telling us that with all of the shelters and charitable groups that went down there that this guy couldn't get help getting to Atlanta weeks ago?

What ATM doesn’t require you to take out money in $20 increments?

Oh yeah, you’ve been had

He's been walking for weeks to get from Panama City to Destin? The Oregon Trail took four months.

Maybe it was Tyler Perry doing a social experiment and you're about to be rewarded handsomely.

Black, Atlanta, it all kind of adds up.

I feel like I’m talking to a bunch of fricking Pledges who can’t handle their alcohol.

Most of you OT’ers could only wet dream about $50

I don't think anyone's arguing that you didn't help him out. You gave him money. Of course you helped him out.

I am grown up, I am being mature about it. That's why I suspect you didn't get the truth from him. There was help available to people after Michael and getting to Atlanta would not be that difficult. I volunteered in shelters after Katrina and saw transportation of victims to other states occurring. They had nothing on them at the time except the clothes they were wearing.

Katrina was not Michael. He was not getting any help from anything because he was renting the house.. the home owner landlord was getting everything.

He wandnt getting shite for his work truck with his insurance

He has no job now.. no tools.. no nothing... he said frick it, I’m walking not realizing how far FWB was from Panama City.

He didn’t want to live in a tent city.

He lost everything and you assholes on here show zero fricking compassion even though most of you assholes have been exactly what the frick this man is going through

You seem really fired up. Let's just relax and start over.

Renting has nothing to do with anything. He can go to a shelter in Panama City and explain his situation and a charitable organization will find him a ride to Atlanta. As far as the truck is concerned, if he had proper insurance he would receive some sort of compensation for his loss. Panama City is not weeks away from Destin.

You are the one acting like a child calling others "a-hole" because they point out flaws in the guy's story.

This sounds very kind of you.
I have a soft spot for people that are genuinely hard workers and do manual labor.
One observation, PC to FWB is ~64 miles , at 3 miles per hour (the average speed of walking ~20 min miles) that’s 21.33 hours.
If he only spends 4 hours a day walking then he would’ve made the trek in just 5 days.
Not sure how true the weeks of walking part is, but again, I respect you trying to help another human that is down on his luck
