This is what I'm talking about. I give to charity as I'm sure many others here do. Just because we don't start threads when we do it doesn't make us assholes.

I just wanted to explain the situation to the OT about how bad it is over there. I don’t want my balls rubbed or cock jacked off. It was just a very sad situation

He already had his bus ticket that was 3 weeks late. I don’t know how long it took for him to get here.

He said weeks.. I don’t know. All i did was try to help the guy out even though thinking I was going to get robbed and at the end of the day.. he gave me the biggest hug and thanked me on the planet.

If he took the money I gave him and he bought crack cocaine and pushed it ip in his butthole. Whatever. It’s $50

I thought I did the right thing and it’s Christmas so I tried to help him out as a fellow American

I truly think he was sincere and just wanted to get home to see his family who lives in Atlanta because he was miserable

I find it odd that Hurricane Katrina victims cannot relate to this event that just happened to me an hour or 2 ago.

3 weeks after Katrina I was gutting the old man’s rental houses, driving all over BFE looking for gas, trying to help siblings move temporarily to Baton Rouge, dealing with insurance companies over destroyed property, and rummaging through what was my house on the Pearl R. I’d moved into 2 weeks prior to the storm, after remodeling it for 2 years.

In other words, frick your $50. That dude can pick himself up by the boot straps and make his life productive again. I don’t know how long ago that storm wiped him out. But after 3 weeks, you’re just starting to finalize your formulated plan and networking with others that need your help (and vice a versa). If he hasn’t made better arrangements by now than hoping to catch a cab to a bus station to head home to Atlanta, what you did won’t really make a difference. He’d have made it there. Think of all the other people he’s scammed for $50.

Tl;dr that dude couldn’t pick you out of lineup tomorrow. Yuh got burned by a junkie.

I honestly didn’t expect anyone to not trust your story.
I definitely responded with sarcasm (yes I knew it was KM last phone was in miles but it’s 19’ underground covered in concrete.)

I think you did a good deed and you are a shirt off of your back kind of man.

I am that way too but have been burned by a number of people lately. Everyone has a story. That man didn’t end up where he was outta shite luck. He made poor decisions. You either saved that stranger or condemned him unfortunately

Thank you. That’s the whole point of my story. All I know is that he made it to where he needed to go.. I did my good deed. If he was taking advantage of me then so be it. $50. At least I can sleep at night knowing that I tried to do the right thing By helping him out.

When you live in a place like Destin.. everybody knows everybody who lives here and she called me to tell me that he made it to the bus station.

No pics... she’s not that attractive

Well I was just pissed because the OT can be ruthless. If we ever bump into each other at a game, I’ll buy ya a nice cole beer.

Thefricked up part is that you could have died. Despite that Never forget they/we are all in this world together and some acts of kinds go along way.
Its also why I hate traveling with my mom, she always gets emotional and tries to help the world. I was in san diego whole foods eating and my mom and sister bought sandwiches for people outside. Locals prefer it if you dont contribute to them.
Either way if you want to help work at a local charity, something organized that properly evaluates the needs of people.

That’s the thing to me - good deed ... felt great. 50$. How’s the next 50$ feel?

Personally, I would rather coach, or supply building materials and labour to unfortunates then 50$ cash just cause I’ve been burned.

He asked me how far down was the Greyhound Bus Station... I told him Destin does not have a greyhound bus station... you have to go down to Ft Walton Beach. He broke down.
If he had a ticket already... why was he trying to walk somewhere that didn't have a bus station? Wouldn't the ticket say FWB and not Destin?

Don’t listen to these people. You did a good thing.

I have an Indian lady $20 at Walmart yesterday. She was holding a sign that said “lost my job, need food and diapers” her kids were sitting in the grass playing a board game someone bought them.

Some people get unlucky and need help

No matter what anybody else thinks. He touched your heart and you touched his. That’s the moral of the story, and both of you will walk away better people.

Does his entire family not have a telephone?

Don’t think the call would have gone like this

Hey mom this is your son, Bum, I lost everything and can’t get to a bus station so I’m considering walking for a few weeks to the nearest one. After I get there, I’m taking the bus to Atlanta.

Sounds great son, looking forward to seeing you. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

Yes ma’am.

Great. See you in 2019

Man, is she could only walk 250 ft to that Walmart and beg for a job instead of ripping off everyone else. You do know these people make more in an hour begging than they do working so by you giving them money, you are actually encouraging this behavior.

Yea, people get down on their luck. There are tons of benefits and services available. Stop giving money to these people. Ridiculous how so many are too dumb to realize this.
