He tried that and got nowhere. He doesn’t want to live in a shelter dude. He wants to go home to Atlanta with his parents and family. They could only afford a bus ticket

I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand

And there are assholes on here being assholes.

All I am trying to say is that it was a little emotional for me.. I thought I did a good deed.. I talked to the cab driver..s he made it to the bus station and I hope he gets home soon because the grown man was miserable

He said he has tried everything and Got nowhere. That’s how fricked up it is over there

Thanks Donald J Trump. Horrible fricking job with this event

Not sure who this is directed at but questioning the "walking for weeks" thing is valid, imo.

Not saying you didn't do a good thing.

He just he had been walking for weeks to get to the bus station.

Perhaps he banged a few homeless bitches on the way home? Perhaps he took a few days off because he didn’t have the energy? Perhaps he couldn’t get over bridges because there was a wreck?

I don’t know but how long has it taken the caravan to get her from Mexico?

All I know is that he was tired, sad and just wanted to go home to family and a bed

If I was an a-hole like y’all.. I’d love to see you people try it

What I said was he could find a way to Atlanta from that shelter. He doesn't have to live there but for a few nights till the arrangements could be made.

You've ignored it despite numerous people pointing it out, but why do you think he has taken weeks to walk 60 miles from Panama City to Destin?

Is it possible that this guy has other issues in his life besides the impact of a hurricane that make his story suspicious to those of us who have been around and lived a bit longer than you?

So this guy is trying to get to Atlanta to stay with family? WTF the family can't come pick him up instead? Must not want him to stay with them

Regrettably, most people are going to choose to be shrewd in their responses to you as 1) there are a lot of scam artists, and 2) people are worried about being perceived as suckers. (I live in NYC and I've seen all sorts of scams... though I may have seen just as many in other places I've lived-- including La... so, in the end, such people are everywhere.)

Taking you at face value, good on you. If you helped him, it's a good thing. From the sound of it, it didn't take food off your plate to do so, and even if it did, that speaks all the better of you. It's not unreasonable to believe he might've stayed at a few places for several days at a time before reaching you, so whatever to those who question the timing in a strictly linear manner as if the man should have been on a forced march pace of 20-30 miles a day. Whatever. They're entitled to feel clever. You're entitled to look past that.

If he did take advantage of you, I still say: whatever! The world is increasingly cynical and I think it's better to help people sometimes (at the risk of being taken advantage of) than it is to always be hard hearted.

And, if you are making this up (which I don't think you are), then the last paragraph still applies... as in: whatever-- I don't care if you tricked me. I take your story at face value and if I'm wrong, it's not like it hurts me in any way to say you seem to have done a good thing. As much as I enjoy TD, I've never particularly cared to sound shrewd or clever for the sake of tyring to pump up my persona on here. So, I'd rather commend you for trying to do what you felt was right than try to save face to the people who want to show how clever they are by doubting you.

Happy holidays!

I was initially more sympathetic but the fact that you're calling people names for not big upping you in a manner that you find befitting makes me question your motives.

Fifty dollars caused nothing in this thread. You're all over the place and you're lashing out calling people "assholes." I'm not certain why you're so hostile about people questioning his story. You know this board and had to know some would.

I think you did a good deed and I hope it helped that guy get to where he needs to go.

That being said, this kind of mentality;

the mentality that government should be the ones to "solve" these kinds of problems, is cancerous to society.

Learn about the Texas Seed Bill and what happened when Grover Cleveland (one of the best presidents in history, btw) vetoed it.

Good for you. You did a nice thing. However, the OT is probably the wrong place to come looking for a pat on the back.

Also, you should have bought that dumbfrick a map. He's walking west, when Atlanta is north and east.

I think it’s kind of funny that you’re getting mad at people for being skeptical towards his and your respective stories when you posted it looking for a pat on the back.

Was it nice of you to give $50 to someone who you believed genuinely needed it? Of course. I don’t think anyone would argue that. But it’s also lame to go tell a bunch of strangers how charitable you are, especially when those strangers are notoriously skeptical toward these very stories.

I’m not looking for a pat on the back

My point is that I am saddened that it’s so bad over there that people are trying to escape pecause they lost everything that they have worked for their entire lives and it was all lost in one day because of a stupid storm.

It was really sad and I have never felt that sad for a person who I have never met.

It was horrible. And yes, there’s a bunch of assholes and immature dickheads who cannot even comprehend what this man is going through because they are entitled assholes.

Rick Scott has been amazing during this ordeal.. Donald j trump has not

And by the way.. I LOVE My President - Donald J TRUMP
