They will have a barricade preventing I-110 S traffic from accessing the Washington St exit.

Which is more than adequate since the Terrace St exit was installed.

I appreciate that BR has synchronized all its lights too. They’re synchronized to make you stop at every single one, but it’s impressive nonetheless

The entire proposed design of the I-10 widening in Baton Rouge is very good. The construction part of it will be a nightmare. It's going to take so long that they'll have to widen it again when they are done.

They are moving along pretty well if you ask me considering most is elevated and it’s through the middle of the city.

Plus they have to always keep 2 lanes open in each direction so that makes getting through it no real different than it has been for years.

I agree with this except on college headed north, there is only one lane that turns onto corporate now and it backs up traffic.

Yeah I don’t really understand that decision. I fricked it up the first time I went through there going north, because normally you would expect the right turn only lane of the exit to let you go.. right. It’s a bit odd that you have to pull up to the intersection like you’re going left or straight to turn right onto College Drive.

I assume they did this to reduce congestion from people merging onto College from the Corporate turn lane, but it’s not super intuitive the way it’s currently laid out.

Everything else about the project is great though, and it definitely makes the 10/12 merge feel much smoother. I’m glad they did it now too because it’ll really pay off whenever they finally get the 4th lane open from Acadian to the 10/110 split.

Heading East on 1-10 at College all I've seen is new signs. I never travel that route so I guess I missed something. I'll try it again. Will also try the College Drive exit going West.

The back up is from all the people making u-turns on Corporate because they didn’t look at the signs that show the far right lane is for Corporate only.

Hopefully it’ll get better as people get used to the new setup.

Synchronization just means some camera company got rich installing cameras and equipment that does little good.

The old tripwire in the concrete was much better.

Realistically, how much traffic is going to need to take corporate blvd from college drive? It's maybe a 3 mile stretch of road at most and ends at Jefferson/Old Hammond. Unless you need to be somewhere specifically along Corporate, there are other options to get to where you need to go near the area.

I will still always push for a zipper truck system and elimination of suicide lanes.

It’s more than you would think. I try to avoid the area because getting back to College from Corporate is a pain in the nuts at certain times of day.. or at least it used to be.

That being said, I think the reasoning might be more about eliminating weaving on College than providing a dedicated route to Corporate. College would back up from the Corporate intersection because you have cars getting off the interstate trying to merge left, while cars on College going to Corporate try to merge right.

By forcing people going north on College from the interstate to pull up to the traffic light, you eliminate that weaving.. at the expense of making the intersection less intuitive.

I usually don't like saying DOTD, state of LA, and did well too often. It's far better than the past. But just like another poster said the backup turning on Corporate is bad.

I still thought for years they'd need to demo the Washington St. exit from 10 eastbound,

Still do. The problem with removing is that it serves a predominantly minority neighborhood and widening could impact an historically black church. The laurel street exit was step one to possibly removing and widening the interstate.

Agree college was a good project, but I think the Acadian redesign of the entire thing gets funded will be the biggest impact.

How intuitive does it need to be? There's literally a giant sign on the exit that spells out what each of the lanes is for. You don't need to intuit anything.

And you also eliminate the ability for traffic to turn right on corporate unless the light is green because some a-hole going straight will be in the right lane stopped at the light.

This is a good point, and they probably could have fixed this by modifying the exit lane onto Corporate and creating a turn lane from college that turns right).

That said, it's only been configured this way for a little bit - College Dr is a cluster and has been for years. The work done on the interstate was not done to fix that, and I don't really think that it made College drive any worse.
