“I saw the world from up on your shoulders” is such a hell of a line about dads

Having a boy, that line really hits hard. Right in the gut.
I feel the same about my dad, got a look at the world from his shoulders. Whether it was LSU games or various other stuff we did. I can remember dad having me on his shoulders.
What really hurts is further in that song they say “not hard to remember when your daddy would never get old.” I’m 32 and my dad is 62, and even now, it’s hard to picture my dad as older.
Good dads are in short supply.

How old if you don’t mind me asking? My dad is 72 now and I’m starting to try to prepare myself for the inevitable day.

You reminded me of a song. I had to search it. I have an almost grown son. It's all a gut punch.
Between Fathers and Sons
quote:
Your mother will try to protect you Hold you as long as she can But the higher you climb The more you can see. That's something I understand One day you'll look at your own son There'll be so much that you want to say He'll have to find his own way.
Between Fathers and Sons

My dad passed a few years ago. Before he died he told me how proud he was of the way I have raised my son.
That was a life changing moment

According to modern western women we dads are no longer necessary, lol.

Say what you want to say now. We had our differences over the years(both of us stubborn), but I often told my dad I loved him. One day he was here and the next he was gone. That quickly. I had no notice it was going to happen.

Having a son, whose life you’re heavily involved in, as a grown man, is an incredible privilege and responsibility.
