What does that even mean? No one is blaming all the police. I said that earlier. I we are watching this video and talking about this one circumstance.

What does having your probation revoked mean? Like, let him off of probation?
quite the opposite. it would mean he'd go to prison for the crimes he pleaded guilty to. he is serving probation now instead of sitting in jail.

Wait, WTF.

So they're arguing to revoke his probation for the charges that were dropped?

That's our legal system in a nutshell.

1. The video is edited so I'm not sure whether or not he did or did not ask for his ID

2. If he truly didn't ask for it, the cop needs to find a new line of work

Should he have to do that to these dick head cops? No. But if he does he doesn't get tazed and arrested.

That's quite the assessment of what rights we the people once had.

So give up your rights or get assaulted and arrested without cause?

And some people wonder why police in some parts of the country aren't popular.

There'a clearly a widespread, systemic problem with cops in this country. Some of the problem has racial undertones, some of it is just cops being dumbasses and abusing their power. The culture needs to change and they need better training so that things like this don't happen, when anyone with common sense could have gotten through this encounter without tazing or arresting the guy.

They didn't botch an arrest, they actually gained one

The police did nothing unethical here. They approached who they thought was a guy they were looking for. He was very uncooperative. All he had to do was do what the police told him to do and it would have been over and done with in minutes without incident. Instead, he resisted and made things much harder on himself.

the later lie has little to nuffin to do with how the first 2 minutes went. The officers did not want this guy in the vehicle and has justiable reason for that.

It absolutely has something to do with it. The cop had a responsibility to identify the person he is serving a warrant for. He decided to do this by asking Patrick for his name rather then ask for ID. Patrick complied with this request and provided his name. If he would have done what he lied about doing the 2 minutes would have gone very different.

And what do you base this on?

The first thing a cop is supposed to do in this situation is ask the guy what his name is. The second thing the cop is supposed to do is ask for ID. The cops never had a chance to ask for the ID because Patrick started acting weird and uncooperative. The cops had to get him under control for their own safety.

If Patrick had cooperated the 2 minutes would have gone very different.

The second thing the cop asked was for him to stand up out of the car... which Patrick did... after telling him his name... twice...

Ok I think these cops fricked up on this one, but the kid was a dick head from the second they walked up. Everybody in this situation failed.

Yeah then the cop asked him to turn around and put his hands on the car and he retreated back into his car. That was the pivotal moment. At that point he forced the cops to take action. If he turns around and puts his hands on the car and continues to comply, everything is resolved in moments without incident.

Why is it so hard to just do what the police say?
