So you admit the cop didn't do what he was supposed to do?

Just to remind you

He did what he was supposed to do under those circumstances. If the suspect is completely cooperative he would have asked for his ID. But considering how Patrick was acting he probably didn't feel comfortable with him reaching and pulling anything from his pocket or waistband...and I don't blame him.

If he turns around and puts his hands on the car, he likely thinks he's fixing to get arrested. He's already on parole, and if he gets arrested again he goes back to jail. The guy went into panic mode. Plain and simple. Does that justify him not cooperating? no. However, if the dumbass officer would've done these next two steps that entire situation would likely have been avoided.

1) What's your name?
2) Please show me some ID to confirm that

Done. Crisis averted. Cops move along

reach for your ID and you will get shot. They think its a gun. apparently you must ask to be handcuffed first and for the cop to pull you wallet out and dig thru it

In the state of Georgia there is no legal requirement for him to provide his name, a I.D., or in anyway prove who he is to the police. The burden lies with the police to determine if he is the person they are looking for. As is too often the case, the cops are ignorant of the laws they are supposed to be enforcing.

but he was cooperative. He answered his name and got out of the car. Why didn't he ask him for his ID then like you claimed he was supposed to do?

I was referring to ideal circumstances. he was far from cooperative which is exactly why the officer had to forego that step.

The Policeman should have asked him for his ID, the guy in the car should have been more cooperative.

What?

Cop asked his name, he said Patrick. Cop asked his name again, meaning he had ample time to ask for his ID instead of repeating his question.

Not to mention Patrick stood up, again cops had plenty of time to ask for ID, they chose not to.

Any specific reason you're blindly siding with the cops here?

, so again, you're admitting your first point was invalid, that's another moment he could have asked for ID.
BTW, you said the 2nd thing a cop should do is ask for ID then admitted he didn't do that, and yet still defend the cops you admitted fricked up.

I was waiting for this to show up here. Why didn't he just answer who he was instead of being immediately hostile to the police? And then he tries slamming the door? Just stupid.

Lying and saying they asked him for ID 4 times, seems totally ethical, right?

At that point he forced the cops to take action. If he turns around and puts his hands on the car and continues to comply, everything is resolved in moments without incident
Why are so many people putting full trust in lying cops who aren't competent enough to not botch an arrest warrant? Those cops did nothing to make you think that would have happened.

Why is it so hard to just do what the police say?

Because certain instances, like this one, you simply can't trust them.

Know what's skewed? Searching for perfection out of the random, likely scared, definitely confused citizen while searching for excuses for the trained, prepared and professional in the situation.
