Me neither, man. I'm all for doing what cops tell you to do, but that was some bullshite on their part. He said "Patrick" then they asked him again and thats when he said "umm Patrick". Undeniably 100% the cops fault in this instance.

I was waiting for this to show up here. Why didn't he just answer who he was instead of being immediately hostile to the police? And then he tries slamming the door? Just stupid.
Kid brought it on himself.
bring on the downvotes, but it's the truth.

This thought process is beyond fricked up, FYI.
Yea, I should go out just looking for trouble with the police.
Wtf
I didn't say that either.
But thinking to yourself that you have to be really careful around cops because of their tendency to overreact and do the wrong thing is so fricked up.

like you are ignoring that the cops never told him why he needed to get out of the car?
I was aware they had to give you the reason. Do you have a law to back that up?

yes bc their argument is "bullshite" since they know now what the cops didn't know then. they got life all figured out and are sofa cop champs.

I don't think they'll overreact. But why give an opportunity regardless? Is answering you name clearly and getting out of a vehicle when asked really that big of a deal?

He has a right to ask for the warrant.
Although, I would have simply shown my ID to the officers, the guy still didn't deserve to be tased.

hey salmon, do you think criminals have ever told cops they were someone else before a potential arrest? Yes or No. Don't you think cops have heard shite like this before? Oh he's Mmmmm patrick guys, lets all go home now.
Everyone should carry around little cards with their name and picture on them, and then we wouldn't have that issue because the cops can just ask for that little card thingy.
Genius!!!

question was more rhetorical a-hole

it wasn't until the cop started screaming about tasing him that the kid really freaked out. And I would too if a cop wouldn't show me the warrant.
right. it may not be a scary situation to most.. but you aren't in his shoes. he wasn't hostile, he was confused and scared. he even asked to call his person.
it's just a shitty handling by the police in this one particular moment.
even if they feel a guy is lying to them.. at least give them a chance to i.d. themselves first. there's was what 3 of them and 1 of him? i don't even care to watch the video. one of them could have got his social and dob why he stays in the car.
he's asking why is he being arrested. he's asking to call his people. he's trying to find out what is going on.
he doesn't even know that they are looking for another person..
then they lie and say they asked him for I.D. and they try to act like it's his fault..
then they say "who does he look a lot like"
that's ridiculous.. they know they messed up. and then tried to justify it two different ways

You're such a little shite. If this situation happened to you you'd be on here crying about it.

awesome. get the frick out the car and we'll look at them together.

They wanted him to get out to arrest him.
I know not everyone on here is versed in criminal law, police procedure, the "Constitution" - because school don't teach jack shite anymore.
However, there is an important clarifying question to ask (and I know the folks who frick with cops love to go around filming themselves doing this), but if there is a question, you ask:
Am I under arrest? If not, am I being detained? If not, am I free to go?
If you're under arrest - remember these simple 4 things: SHUT THE frick UP - DON'T EVEN BOTHER ASKING FOR YOUR ATTORNEY UNTIL YOU GET TO THE POLICE STATION AND DO THAT IMMEDIATELY AND AGAIN, SHUT THE frick UP.
If you're being detained, but not arrested, I would just say you're not comfortable answering questions without an attorney present. That forces their hand - they either have to let you go or arrest you.
But, raising your voice, being physically aggressive or resistant is going to give them the excuse to take out whatever is going on in their lives on you, with fists, batons, taser, etc.
You don't have to comply or die.
Be civil and live.

cops walks up to your house, knocks on door, asks your name, you give them your name, they tell you that you are under arrest
you just comply?
because I slam the door in their face and ask for a warrant

It never would, because I'd have given my name and got out the car and had this over with in 5 seconds.

As we've learned, cops have a tendency to shoot people when they reach for their ID without being asked for it.
See South Carolina and Minnesota.

dude
they came onto his property, he answered their question honestly, asked to see the warrant and was not provided with it. He freaked out-and rightfully so.
If a cop barged into my yard out of nowhere and started trying to arrest me, and didn't tell me why or provide me with the warrant, I'd freak the hell out too. It's asinine to think every person would react the same way. This kid said "call my parole officer". Basically said "frick no, you're not cuffing me, I didn't do anything and I'm not the right guy."
I don't blame him at all.
