I think we can all agree there are some very shitty and overzealous cops.
When I was 18 I was beat up, tazed, and pepper sprayed for basically being near a fight that I had nothing to do with. I was then brought to jail. In court they basically said if I didn't agree to the plea deal they'd book me and throw me in jail.
To an 18 year old kid who did nothing that's pretty terrifying.
I'm white. Sorry to say, but cops are shitty to all races and I'm sure there are plenty with similar stories as mine.
frick BLM, if they didn't make this shite all about them people would be more behind the whole concept of correcting overzealous police officers. They've turned it into a race war though.

Yeah, and criminals never lie to the cops about their identity
then ask for ID if you don't believe him!
wtf?!

The dumb bastard should have done what the officers asked and then produced an id showing exactly who he is. Then he could just go back to sitting in his car doing nothing. Just like I'm sure he does all day everyday.
holy frick you people are dumb

at what point would you stop feeling comfortable complying with the orders? how unreasonable does an officer have to get before you say no? (honest question there)
Everyone has a breaking point.

Uhhh they didn't ask for it and the LAST thing you need to do is dig in your pockets around a pissed off cop without them telling you to do that.

Haven't read the thread, but I'm safely assuming someone has already perused the internet to dredge up Patrick's driving record, grades in school, risque pictures of him on social media, etc.

is this salmon talking or is this actual law enforcement rules and regs?
This wasn't even a traffic stop. They came onto the property where he was sitting in the passenger seat of a car. It's no different than them walking up to your front door and trying to drag you out.
I'm probably one of the more prevalent pro-cop/anti-black people on this board and even I realize this was a frick up by the police.

saying name really means nothing.
then why did they ask?

he non complied with simple orders to get out of car.
and they non complied by not showing him the warrant, which is completely within his rights

He wasnt arrested in his yard doing nothing wrong. He was arrested for his actions while not complying with police.
I titally agree that things should have been handled differently but I dont understand why its so damn hard to be respectful and compliant when police approach anyone. Its simple shite. Be polite and 99% of the time youll be fine.

he did this?
he went out looking for trouble while sitting in his car on his property?

He gets out and they arrest him any ways and still have arrested the wrong guy.
Or they search him and look at his Id like they did. The taser thing happened because he wouldn't get out the car.
Being handcuffed does not equal arrest.
Maybe we should all come up with a policy on how to handle people that don't comply.
This guy wasn't doing anything wrong at the moment, but was a criminal still.
Let's say it was Michael in that same situation. Do the cops just say, well he's in the car, guess we come back later?

Are you just going to ignore that he didn't get out of the car when asked and slammed the door on them? Because I feel like you're ignoring that.

He probably contributes more to society than you do. Tell your parents I said frick you for getting drunk and reproducing that (hopefully) one time.

In most cases you're not even required to produce an ID... you just have to let them know your identity.
It could be different in this case depending on what state and their laws about people on parole.

they had the correct address and was very confident they had their guy, ok so this black kid might or might now be lying about his name, i'd want to get him out of vehicle too and make sure all lives aren't at risk while we sort out the rest. He simply refused to comply.

this board is full of frickin' racist assholes. It's pathetic. You're blinded by hate. This is clearly on the cops.
