quote:Same for my dad & grandad. Both healthy, physically fit men who got Alzheimer's at about 60 yrs old and lived the last 8-10 yrs as a vegetable and mercifully died at 68.
My dad and grandad were both healthy as oxes when they died. Unfortunately both had debilitating strokes so their physical physique did nothing but make me sad taking care of them.
I swear my dad didn't lose an ounce of muscle or grow a belly despite being a practical invalid for 10 years.

Louisiana — 70.6 years
Youre missing a key data point
quote:
A particularly low life expectancy of Black men, 69.5 years. Black men in Louisiana live two years less than Black men in the country as a whole.
quote:
The life expectancy of Louisiana’s Caucasian residents is 76.8 years.

I have good news for you (probably). First, for white males, life expectancy in Louisiana is almost 75 years. And more importantly, your life expectancy is far higher because you have avoided all of the mortality that occurs before your current age. If you are 70, and a Louisiana resident, your life expectancy is about 83.
If you are affluent, in good shape and a non-smoker your life expectancy is about 89.
Those last two estimates are per ChatGPT

I have bad allergies and when I lived in East TN I would get a pretty bad respiratory infection about once a year. They went away when I moved to Alaska and I have not had to many issues here in LA.
When I was a kid I had a bad case of pneumonia that left a cavity in my ribs. I was told that this is an area that TB often forms so I would need to be careful with respiratory issues in the future.
I love East TN though and would love to be in the Chatt area or somewhere near the Appalachian Trail.

Y’all realize these data points are dragged down because a certain group gets shot before the age of 25 right

.3 years longer than la in tn! Woohoo! What will I do with all that extra time?
Consume more depends and give your children more time to watch you deteriorate.
Just kidding, more time for hookers and blow.

While not perfectly linear, there is strong correlation in demographics and that life expectancy.
Don't be fat, go to annual doctor visit, and don't get murdered and you'll break the mold.

According to the CDC data, the 10 lowest-ranked states for male life expectancy are:
Mississippi — 69.5 years
West Virginia — 69.5 years
Louisiana — 70.6 years
Alabama — 70.8 years
Tennessee — 70.9 years
So you are saying you are impovershed, eat grease, smoke like a chimney, drink every night, and dont keep up with your medical needs maintenance...
