Go to North GA or East TN. I agree with getting out of Atlanta.

Louisiana isn’t nearly as bad as this board makes it. I haven’t had a legit crime in my town in I don’t know how long.

I was born and raised Texan and went to LSU. I didn’t want to leave BR. I could find a lot of charm to that place, given it’s size. In the 13 years since I’ve graduated, it seems much worse…and I can tolerate some hood. The Louisiana hood is just…different. The disregard for human life is much worse than I places like St Louis or Detroit. Those places have still managed to keep the ghetto confined.

I love LSU. I love the idea of Mardi Gras, New Orleans, etc. Unfortunately, you only find it in the movies these days.

BR isn't much more hood than it was 13 years ago. Maybe a little bit and crime is worse. It's way more hood than it was 30 years ago though

Lived in LA all my life and it’s home to me. Can’t move outside of LA, because of my wife’s job. You will have to move to an area with good public schools, or be able to send them to private. We have been fortunate to be able to send our kids to private school.

I am not sure what field you are on, but the economic opportunities to advance are very limited compared to bigger cities and states.

To me those are the biggest hangups, elide the crime in certain areas, and the political corruption.

I agree to a certain extent. I’m fortunately not from New Orleans, but did find find myself working there right out of college for 5 years. A horrible horrible place. Thankfully that isn’t all Louisiana has to offer. There are plenty of places that have good people, good food, and not the drawback of fearing for your life every time you walk outside. You just have to find them.

If it were up to me and was getting out of the city, I’d rather come back to Louisiana than go country in GA. Unless you thinking more north ga and the mountains.

But I don’t like the cold. Even less so as I get older. So our one little weekend of freezing weather is good enough for me.

St. Helena parish is very rural and you could probably find some property out that way. Have no idea of the price but everything is expensive now days. Maybe you get get land at $2500 - $3000/ acre.

Believe it or not but it's illegal to have a mobile home inside the city limits of Bogalusa. Also the neighborhood I'm in has a HOA and mobile homes aren't allowed.
