I don’t see how anyone moves back to Louisiana after escaping. Hell I don’t even want to take my kids to an lsu game and risk them wanting to goto school there bc of football

Why not? BR is nice. I would not mind living there again.

I know you left BR circa 1984, but you may want to have a seat so that we can catch up a bit.

Where in South Louisiana would be a good place to settle, or should I keep my arse in Atlanta? I was born in Lake Charles, and raised in Lafayette and N.O.
There's little you'll find in Louisiana that is not in Atlanta.

You won't get many serious answers here, but:

New Orleans is fantastic if you live in the right part and are not an idiot. Audubon Park is gorgeous. The restaurants are world class. The music is outstanding. The crime is not a problem if you are careful where you live and use some sense.

Northshore has a bit of New Orleans but is pretty much suburban. I've never lived there, but I can tell you every time I visit the traffic is terrible. It is also within a stone's throw of deep redneck.

Lafayette is a great place to raise adults. The people are extremely friendly and truly understand joie de vivre. . The local culture/music scene is cool. The food is terrific. There is a reason why there are four boudin stops at the Scott exit, and why they rake in about a gazillion dollars from Texans headed back to work after the holidays. That said, it is not that big, and it has been having more problems with crime and racial tension than it did in the past.

(Youngsville is more like what old Lafayette used to be, and laid back. But watch out for flooding.)

If you like Atlanta, stay there. But it will never have the flavor of Louisiana. The baws here will bad mouth the place forever. That's just how this place is.

shite Hole.

The 18 people who up voted this must have some pretty low standards. Of course, if you’re looking for LA lite, then maybe.

Drive through, Pascagoula, Gautier or Hell, even Gulfport and tell me this is a good place to live…maybe Ocean Springs on a good day, maybe. Dirty, smelly, trash everywhere and full of homeless. Drive through it weekly and I’d never once consider living there… ever.

Now, Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay…Daphne, Spanish Fort, & Fairhope definitely.

Honestly, stay away from Louisiana.

It is about as 3rd world as an American state can get….and trending worse.

I guess you don't see BR described as "nice" too often anymore although there are still some nice areas in the city.

Louisiana isn’t nearly as bad as this board makes it. I haven’t had a legit crime in my town in I don’t know how long. Couple that with making a good living being near tons of family and friends. I can’t see myself living super far. I still find time to travel somewhere new every year and see the world. To each their own.
