. I would get super annoyed with that.

I had to run a half carrying my phone once, for I forgot my fanny pack.
I don't like arm bands for phone keeping. Fanny packs probably look a little "Gay", but I don't care. I'm over 50 now. LOL

I run holding my phone all the time, it’s not annoying to me.

Carry your phone. Might be nothing more important than knowing your pace. Really easy to get overconfident early.

One last question for the runners, would it be wise to time myself with my phone during the race? Or would it be better to pick up a cheap stopwatch in the morning?

If I were you I wouldn't want the extra weight of the phone. Go to Walmart tonight and buy a watch.

My hands are completely relaxed when I run (along with most of my upper body)

No way I could carry anything in my hands

I’m sure somebody’s already told you but make sure you take a big shite right before you run.

If she runs it in 31 shes probably wide enough to draft off of. Tail her the first 2 miles then burn it down for the remainder of the race.

Damn it! That's funny right there!! Lmao!

I would hope you can run a 5k in 29 minutes drunk. That’s not even a decent time.

Under no circumstance show up to a 5k with a stopwatch. You're not timing anyone running the 40.
Just download a running app like "Endomondo" on your phone and it will display your pace. (Pro tip: use "Average pace" and not "pace") Some, but not all, 5k's have times posted at each mile. This can also help pace yourself.
Remember a 29 minute 5k is about a 9:20 per mile pace. Do NOT go balls out blazing and run the first mile in like 7:30. You will most likely crash by mile 2.
Run the first mile "comfortably hard". The second mile, see how you're doing. If by the 3rd mile you felt like you have been holding back, by all means at this point have at it.

So is mine but I still carry it. I just switch hands every mile or so but, to each his own. What works for one might not for another!

A 5K or a 10K?

Carrying a phone would suck.

As slow as he’s going to be running, the extra weight of the phone isn’t going to matter much.

When I did run the half carrying my phone, it wasn't as big of a deal as I thought. I just swapped hands every mile or so. Now, had it rained hard during the run, that would have been a big issue.

OP I’m digging the look overall, just don’t wear those socks please

Carrying the phone would bug me but it shouldn’t be an issue. Just don’t drop it! Having to stop for any reason would suck; walk if you must, but stay moving!

You got this, baw. Run like the frickin wind

Good luck tomorrow!

I'm estimating 33:30 for your time.
