That’s because the CIA is the biggest drug cartel in the world
It ran heroin from SE Asia during Vietnam, ran cocaine from Central and South America since the 80s and has been running heroin from Afghanistan since we’ve been there

Not sure that's true regarding Afghanistan.

Everything I've ever heard from friends, former fellow soldiers (granted, I was in Iraq, not Afghanistan), and so forth who were in southwest Afghanistan was that they would burn the fields when they encountered them. You have to remember that Afghanistan is a pretty damn big country, and even at the height of our presence there, we only had one soldier for every 2 1/2 square miles in the country. It can be hard to find the stuff.

Also, virtually all of the heroin in the U.S. is cultivated in Latin America, especially Mexico. The poppy from Afghanistan is mostly consumed in places like Pakistan, Iran, and Russia - all of which have heroin problems that are ten times worse than ours.

The most common reason they are prescribed in this country is back pain, and all the evidence shows they not only are less effective than other therapies but they actually have poorer outcomes.

My dad has severe back problems, and has been told his back is such a mess that they can't do anything for him with surgery. He gets by on aspirin.

Jeff Sessions says everyone should take aspirin post-surgery and the opioid epidemic will be solved. that and marijuana has led to the opioid epidemic as well.

Sessions sucks, but people also have to understand pain happens. I got part of my lung cut out, and I was given opiods, and had a hard time after they ran out. My next surgery, frick that I made sure I wasn't prescribed them.

Among the wealthy It's an insidious, stealth, addiction and does not discriminate in any way.

There's also the problem of families being so ashamed of their member being strung out on heroin, that they will make up stories, instead of admitting, and sharing, the truth. By doing that, people may never realize they do, in fact, know people that have problems with it. They may not know until the person they know is dead.

It is under blown if anything.

And it's not just affecting the low-socio economic population. Wealthy, educated Americans are some of the worst abusers and even they have turn to heroin when they can't get the pain pills.

I know a lot of people who have had issues. 3 people from great families, with good college degrees, and solid jobs that have died from overdoses.

IMO this doesn't make it a epidemic. This is all self inflicted. This isn't like the flu or some disease you can catch.

Exactly - people have to start accepting responsibility for themselves

What a stupid concept. So I guess god just likes his family better than the ones who have been affected?

That doesn't make sense.

The point, which I think everyone else got, was that you should count yourself lucky if you family hasn't been affected by it.

I think you mean, Drug Dealing Doctors, creating abusers by the hour in America. Abusers who haven't seen their Doctor for 2 years, getting full 2 month prescriptions of the hard shite.

Big Pharma + Legalized Drug Dealers(errrr M.D.)= Danger to Americans

Don’t blame it all on the doctors. It takes 2 to tango. These addicts need to take personal responsibility and quit blaming doctors for their personal failings.

You can't be serious? You do not know one person who is or was addicted within... the past 10-15 years?

And if you don't.. Have you not noticed, just out in public, that there are more people you can... at least assume has an addiction problem?

It's not overblown..

I don’t anyone that is addicted.

I must be naive. I’m not good at spotting ‘normal’ people who are addicted to drugs.
