depends on the person.

I know people with chronic pain who are addicted, despite what they say.

I also know people who take them occasionally.

I’ve taken for injuries. I became mildly addicted. One to two a day for 5-6 weeks after the pain disappeared and then stopped.

Just remember the longer you take them the harder it is to get off and severe the withdrawal will be.

5mg isn't a high dosage or highly addictive. 7.5 is closer and 10 mg is more on the level of where addictions start to come from. But in general it’s not even the best you could of gotten. You’ll be fine.

Try Tylenol 800, instead, if the pain isn’t that bad.
Or take the Norco and try to control yourself.

Doctors are prudes, so be sure to double the prescribed amount for a better time.

Be honest with yourself about how they affect you because they do different things to different people. If you take one, feel groggy and go to sleep for a while you will probably never get addicted.

If you take one and it makes you feel better than you ever have and gives you tons of energy you should probably stop right there and get rid of them.

just take it when you are supposed to and go back to the dr. when he tells you too...it's not an answer to the pain, just a temporary crutch.

Yes, that's usually how it is prescribed to patients. Usually 5/325 1 every 4 hours or 5/325 2 every 6 hours. Most of the time it says to just take 1, but if need be you can take 2 every 6. The danger is exceeding the 4000mg/day limit of Acetaminophen, which when used in large amounts can cause liver damage. As far as addiction goes, short term intermittent usage usually doesn't cause problems, but hydrocodone use over extended periods of time can be a problem. Seeing a pain specialist is a good idea, but if there's any way to avoid being on Norco long term, it is highly recommended. Have you tried alternating 400mg Ibuprofen and 300mg Acetaminophen every 4-6 hours? That combo actually has better analgesic effect than Norco, but you don't get the narcotic effect.

Been on Norco for 3 years now for my back (degenerative disc, arthritis, spondylolisthesis, etc).

Prescribed 3 a day, as needed. Occasionally take half around lunch at work on a bad day and take one at night before bed to keep the pain from waking me up.

I don't find it overly addicting in terms of the need to have one if no pain is present. Just using it as a treatment regimen to delay back surgery as long as possible.

A lot of people did this and ended up being addicts.

My doctor gave me a prescription for opana because I stubbed my toe and it hurt. This is a great medicine. I'm so appreciative.

Opana is rediclous. I used to get the yellow stop signs on the street for $15, good times.

I'm coming up 4 years sober on October this year, it was a long and tortured road. Started with RX pills for a wreck and surgery, and ended with the horse.

Very addictive. I’ll meet you and take them off your hands and properly dispose of them.

If you can handle the pain until you know what is going on and start taking steps to make it better, you should not take it. Just take otc pain killer.

I would try to stick to OTC if possible. If you have ANY other alternative to opioids, take it. If you have never taken it before, you don't know how your body will react to it. For some, one dose triggers the chemical reaction in your brain and you are done for. You can lose control over your entire life without even realizing it with the best of intentions and following your doc's orders. Docs around here toss that stuff around with no concern for the potential consequences to the patient. I deal with people every day who did just what you are about to do and it destroyed them.
