I just got prescribed the pain pill 'Norco.' Can I get some advice from the OT?

I'm having back pain and my doc just prescribed me this. He's also referring me to a back specialist. I'm a bit hesitant taking this stuff, I know it's addicting. Anyone have any experience/advice for me? TIA.

It's not addicting; I've been taking it for years and I'm not hooked on it.

It's 10mg Hydrocodone and 325mg of tylonol
It's basically Lortab with less tylonol.
It can be highly addictive, don't take more than 1 of you don't want to fall in that trap.

My advice is to follow the advice of the medical professional whose opinion you initially sought out and not the advice of randoms on a message board.

They wrote me a RX for it with my Achilles tendinitis, but I didn't fill the RX. Pain was tolerable and I try not to take anything other than Aleve if I can help it. I think it is similar to Vicodin and other painkillers

I’m on Norco right now for a broken leg. I’ve used it several times in the past and never addicted. You have to be honest with yourself about your pain. Gradually as your pain eases, start spreading out the times between pain pills. I haven’t taken a pain pill yet today. Just save the pills for the times you really need it.

Yea, it's not like doctors have been over prescribing pain pills and directly attributing to the opioid addiction problem that has wrecked all types of families in all corners of the country. Pop those pills baby!

My guess would be one every 6 hours or as needed.
