Someone mentioned West Riverside earlier in the thread.

Great example. The problem element is/was slowly forced out. The deadliest strip 5 years ago hasn't seen a murder in a long long time.

Yeah, it's been a few weeks. That's pretty good considering it's summer.

Most of the questionable element moved out a while back. Been nice not seeing their rabid dogs intimidating the neighborhood.

Any credible link to this? Where in the hell is Lee Zurich?

NOLA.com

I believe this article was published before the city increased street parking fees and fines, which seems, like a conflict of interest.

there's still enough people in those areas that support the cops being tough, and the justice system locking criminals up

you might have some things happen, but no one feels unsafe

Serious question. What would you do differently. Go after criminals is such a broad statement. You aren't going to change the culture, maybe just move it.

Kind of like saying that removing statues is removing hate from New Orleans.

I'm not just talking about policy towards crime, I'm simply talking about the fact that he will talk about removing the statues as one of his greatest accomplishments, but he doesn't even mention or condemn some of the awful crimes that occur in NOLA. He is naive enough to think that those statues are why people are leaving, and ignores the many other issues the city has as possible explanations.

I think he is on the TV or in the media too much talking about high profile murders. No one is listening to him.

Right now all he has is the statues. Outside of South La and the south, taking down those statues is seen a lot differently. He is done with this city and will be moving forward.

If people weren't such puasies they would have stayed instead of fleeing the city.

White flighters who complain have no one to blame but themselves.

People like Mitch pander to minorities, push them further into the shitter, then still receive their votes in overwhelming numbers. It's truly amazing that all these major cities where crime is so high are run by Democrats and elected by the same people that are on the receiving end of their deadly policies.

Right, they certainly shouldn't blame the thugs who are actually committing the crimes.

They decided Mitch was the direction they wanted their city to go in and they got what they voted for!

Decades ago, a news report showed a politician saying he was going to solve crime and poverty in whatever big city he was running for mayor in.

An old man in the room commented, "shite, Adolph Hitler couldn't solve that problem."

He may be right. No one has an easy or even hard, yet legal, answer.
