I feel bad for the good people in New Orleans...

...who have a mayor who puts himself on a pedestal for removing some "controversial" statues of Confederate figures but stays silent on important issues like tourists being attacked while walking down a sidewalk. A mayor who claims that these same statues were running people out of New Orleans and ignores that the really leave because of the other multitudes of problems that city faces, including rampant crime.
It amazes me that people like Mitch Landrieu, and other leaders of major cities (usually democrats, sorry not sorry), campaign on fixing poverty and then when they leave office those same impoverished folks are still impoverished.
But hey, at least Mitch got rid of all of the hate by removing those statues. Now he is the President of some irrelevant association of mayors who are probably all just like him, lying to their citizens about what they will actually do to help the city.
/end rant

People like Mitch pander to minorities, push them further into the shitter, then still receive their votes in overwhelming numbers. It's truly amazing that all these major cities where crime is so high are run by Democrats and elected by the same people that are on the receiving end of their deadly policies.

Those people get used and abused, and continue to vote for people who do nothing for them... it's terrible what they are allowing that city to become

Regardless of politics, I don't understand how anyone can feel that they are getting a return on investment for their vote when the mayor is more concerned about statues than tourists being attacked in his city.

Im a Louisiana guy and New Orleans is a complete shite hole.

Dude it's been bad since the early 90s. We would just deal with it back in the day. Now a bunch of people bitch on the internet and do nothing about it.

He has to distract and deflect, it's the art of Politics. Pander to your base, and blame a non-voting inanimate object on everyone's problem. Give them a boogiman made of stone to blame there station in life on, and play to the emotions by saying, " what would the kids think", shite so predictable, and fools keep voting for shite representatives...

Most major metros have terrible mayors and crime. Look at the marxist mayor of NYC, or of Chicago, etc. It's all because liberals run those cities and deep down they are okay with the crime, for very perverse reasons.
The only way to get on top of the crime in Nola is to reintroduce the kind of military police presence we had right after Katrina. Fall of 2005 was the safest we've ever been, because we had guys with machine guns patrolling the neighborhoods in Humvees. No crime. We could have used some heavy cal military grade machine guns on those muggers. No trial, no jail time, just some flesh destroying rounds and some hoses and garbage bags to clean up the pieces.

I've said this before this Monument thing is a smoke and mirrors to cover up Landrieu's corruption. If this guy is not investigated it will truly be an injustice to the people of New Orleans. He is not even trying to cover up the grifting that his family is involved in the city. From the parking lots to the sister's cement company providing the cement for the new sidewalks in the Quarter.

What is really, really bad is that Mitch Landrieu is the gold standard mayor we have had in the last 24 years.
A) Mitch's 8 years
B)C. Ray Nagin's 8 years, plus 10 in prison
C) Marc Morial's 8 years

Any credible link to this? Where in the hell is Lee Zurich?

Serious question. What would you do differently.
Go after criminals is such a broad statement. You aren't going to change the culture, maybe just move it.

There is a culture of violence that it bred into the city.
It seems to mirror along the poverty line.
Increase property value and force poverty out. Metry, Westbank, Slidell, Chalmette...
Crime follows with them.
