A significant number of Saints fans were in high school / college / young adult in the late 90s when No Limit was huge, as well as that was the first time bounce rap really got big.
This is why, whenever there is a concert by Juvenile, or PNC, or DJ Jubilee, etc, 90 percent of the crowd is white.
My college self did a lot of inappropriate moves on the dance floor with ladies, to those songs.
Also, the Saints crowd responds to Choppa Style, right now, like the LSU crowd responds to Neck. It's a celebratory, big moment song.
Let's say we are up 31-27 in the NFC Champ game, one minute left, other team has the ball, 4th down, no timeouts, we stop them, and get the ball back.
Then, in the middle of wild celebrations, that song comes on. That place is going to explode.

What I care about is what unites the fans and the city with the team.
When we snagged the 1st seed Sunday evening and the whole country got to see the fans on Poydras street doing that goofy dance at the same time the players were doing it in the locker room, it was awesome.
Crunk was goofy and unifying just like this Choppastyle thing is. Roll with it.
We're different down here. The players, fans, and city unite and celebrate like nowhere else.
Even HBO's Ballers captured this unique vibe of the New Orleans Saints in an episode. They didn't just make this subplot up outta thin air.

honestly had no idea what it was before Sunday. Not really my style. But, i noticed they played it in Champion's Square and people got into it. Then noticed they played it a few times during the game and the crowd went crazy.
I used to love when most of the area around the superdome played local/homegrown rap music prior to the game. I’ve always been perplexed that they played generic rap music in the dome

I gotta admit, first time I heard the name of the song mentioned my mind made a different connection.
An AK-47 pattern rifle is often referred to as a "choppa" in the Hood. As in "it will chop a man down."
So, being NOLA, I just assumed they were dancing to some song about killing thugs with an AK which made me hang my head. Now that I see they are dancing around like they are riding a motorcycle, I feel better.

It's been very popular in NOLA for 17 years.
But because AK and Can't Guard Mike danced to it at the Dome, now everyone acting like it's this huge thing.
