I bought a new car 6 months ago and still have not looked under the hood

I feel a little weird about this. But I'd also feel weird looking at the engine and pretending I know or care about what's going on in there. The car had 5 miles on it, so wear & tear wasn't an issue.
(I apologize my "I have a new car" brag wasn't subtle in the least.)

A bunch of dudes are about to come in here and call you a pussy for not being able to take your engine apart and put it back together from memory

I bought a truck less than 3 weeks ago and put a new intake on it yesterday.

You must drive a Prius or some electric car that comes with a tampon dispenser then. No man buys a vehicle and doesn’t pop the hood. Please for the love of god don’t tell me you have a truck that will really piss me off.

Checking the fluid levels are kind of important and something anyone can do.

No shame in using a Haynes manual.

I pop the hood after the test drive. I have to see.

Before I purchase a new vehicle I check the oil and transmission fluid levels. I also roll under it to take a look.
I had a close friend who bought a new F-150 .Took the truck for a drive around the block with the salesman and then pulled up to the dealership door and went inside to sign the papers. Salesman gave him the keys and he got back in the truck and put in reverse and the truck would not move. Truck had to be towed into the shop for transmission repair with 11 miles on the odometer.

Most women don't.

I opened the hood on my wife's new Mercedes when we got it a few months ago. It looked like something out of Battlestar Galactica. I closed it and haven't opened it again

I'm no mechanic and don't change the oil....what's to see under there for me? Nothing.
I'm with you. Truck is maybe 10 months old, never touched the hood release.

I mean all you would see is the battery and a bunch of plastic covering the engine.

And if your friend had looked under the hood would that have changed anything? Of course not.
If you get your manhood/testosterone from looking at an engine, you have issues.

The grease monkey fellas are going to need to know more computer science than 4 cycle engines when they work on their EVs.

bullshite. It doesn’t take a mechanic to at least pull a dipstick. I had a friend buy a “certified pre-owned” truck with 10,000 miles on it. He test drive it one day then agreed to buy it and do a trade in. Came back a day later with his trade in and left in his new used truck. He got all of 2 mikes down the highway when it went to shite. The dealership has changed the oil for him before he came to pick the truck up and then they didn’t put oil back in the engine. You’d think it would have been an easy case of the dealership realizing they screwed up and either taken the truck back or done the repairs but he had complete hell just getting them to admit fault. So yeah, the least you can do is pull a dipstick.
