We test drove both Hyundai and Kia in 2022 along with a ton of other SUV brands. Ended up with the Subaru Ascent. We’ve been very happy with it so far. Retired now so we aren’t putting a lot of miles on it. Like other posters we keep our vehicles till the wheels fall off.

Had a drunk hit me in my Jeep Gladiator and destroy it. I’m fine. In the meanwhile we have a 2025 palisade as a rental. We drove it to Destin for our family trip. My girls enjoyed the captains seats in the back. Tons of room! I enjoyed driving it. It’s actually pretty fast and really smooth. Made it 530 miles on one tank of fuel. I’m falling for it.

Similar to our experience. Maybe I'm used to my 13 year old truck and my 9 year old SUV, but it felt very tight. The steering, braking, handling. Just tight and "luxurious"

I drive a 2022 Hyundai Palisade with the calligraphy trim package. Absolutely love my vehicle. When I was in the market, I looked at several midsize SUVs and decided to go with the Palisade, and I do not regret my decision. Would buy again for sure. In fact, after I bought mine, a co-worker was in the market for a new car and bought a Palisade after driving mine. She was telling me just yesterday how much she loves her car. My best friend bought one too after seeing mine and loves it. Mom has a Grand Highlander that she really likes. I’ve driven it a few times, and I always can’t wait to get back to my Palisade.

To be fair, seems like most of the big boys have had a lot of 2024 recalls

Seems like it was a bad year, at least for the asian cars. I think Honda had one for like 2M of their 2024 models.

2020 shutdowns fricked a lot up, and then supply chain issues (I hate that it was a viable issue for autos) the next couple years fricked up even more. Most auto makers had to source stuff out based on simply what was available, not what actually was needed or worked.

I'd either buy something 2019 or older or something brand new so it's at least covered if something breaks.

I can't speak to the Palisade specifically bc I've never driven it, but friend has a Telluride and likes it well enough for the price.

My neighbors have one and seem to love it. Kia/Hyundai dealers don't have the best reps but I think part of that is b/c they were such cheap cars for so long that once the brand started to drastically improve many of the dealerships failed to upgrade their service practices. If you have a decent dealer nearby for any potential warranty issues you'll probably love the vehicle.

I also have a 2020. There was an issue with the engines burning through oil. I just had my engine replaced under warranty at 93,000 miles due to the problem. But I think that has been corrected. Otherwise I love it and had no other issues with it.

My neighbor has one, not sure of the exact year but it’s about 5 years old, and he’s dealing with this oil usage issue now. It’s his wife’s car and she mostly just drives it to work & home; about 6 miles one way.

IIRC, the dealers is trying to determine if it is using oil at a fast enough rate to qualify for warranty repairs.

Sold 2012 Highlander and got 2025 Palisade Calligraphy. Would have been pleased with the Telluride, can't remember why we chose Palisade. Thought about the Highlander but wary of the 4-cyl turbo. Have been pleased but it's a very complicated vehicle-to me. Have heard of some suspension? issues, but we're good for now-but only 4k miles. About $62k with ext. warranty. Can't believe spent that much, but likely last car we'll buy

$62k for a palisade? You could have gotten a loaded telluride for less than that.

They must have had a party when you left the dealership in the Palisade.

I've done a fair amount of highway driving recently and have come to the conclusion that people driving Palisades are the shittiest drivers on the road.

I don’t know about the Palisade, but I’d avoid Hyundai. My son had 2 and both had issues. One began to fall apart (Tucson) and it wasn’t old. Maybe others have had a better experience.

Wife had one and loved it.

Only got rid of it because the one she bought had a total engine recall and it was going to take months to replace. We had a new born on the way, so we just decided to trade it in

We had a rental Palisade on a trip to Montana earlier this year and I liked it but we didn’t love it. Fast forward to now and we were just car shopping that car segment for my wife and after a ton of test driving and research we decided on a new Honda Pilot Elite. We keep cars a long time so Honda over Hyundai was a no brainer and I think the Pilot is better overall. Grand Highlander was my second favorite but they’re more expensive and harder to find exactly what options we wanted

I just shopped all of these vehicles as well. And I ended up on a 2022 Honda Pilot Elite as well. It was certified, and we got the extended warranty.

We were going to buy the Highlander, but the Pilot just seemed to drive much better, and the luxury items were much nicer. I've never owned a Honda, but after reading up on all of the vehicles, we ended up with Honda. It had everything we wanted.

We purchased a 2020 Palisade in June 2019. Wife still driving it today. We have been very pleased

Hyundai's come with a great factory warranty

The only issue we have had is an A/C issue that was repaired under warranty

I am a fan of Hyundai for what you get for the price along with their reliability - I currently own 3 - one of which is a 2013 Santa Fe that is still rolling!!

I've got a 2025 Palisade Calligraphy and I love it. It is great on road trips as very relaxing to drive, and I've been surprised how well it handles in town. I like it better than the Honda Pilots I've had in the past. It is "near luxury." Better than Atlas, Pilot, Highlander etc..., about the same luxury as an Infiniti QX60, but not as nice as most other luxury brands.

That said, my company pays for the lease so I will only have it 3 years, most likely. If I were going to buy something, I'd likely get a Lexus.

Though I am in NOLA, I leased it from the New Richey, FL Hyundai. They gave me a great deal and were easy to negotiate with. I spent $150 to fly over there to get it, then drove it back. Well worth it.

The internet has made purchasing a vehicle so much easier for the buyer. It is so easy to shop around for the best deal.

I did the same thing 2 years ago when purchasing my F-150. Got if from a dealership in Weatherford, TX (outside DFW). I purchased a one way plane ticket and drove it home tp BTR - all because the local Ford Dealerships could not come close to what SouthWest Ford in Weatherford TX was offering.
