re: Husband/Wife Facebook Accounts...Why do people get joint FB accounts?

Me and my wife have one. Main reason at the beginning was when we got married, she didn't have an account but was always on mine since we had all the same friends. Since I was petering off of facebook, I suggested just making it joint.
Also, it was a conscious decision for accountability. Set yourself up for success. Before I was married and was on facebook regularly, I had two separate occasions where ex gf's, who were married, reached out to me through messenger to initially catch up, but eventually started venting to me how they were unhappy in their marriage, maybe shouldn't have gotten married to that person, wondered if we should have tried to make it work. I walked away from those as quickly as possible, but it was a good example of how it could be potentially dangerous when a married person has an account where they can hide things from their spouse. So when I made the choice to go with the joint account, I was ridding myself of that temptation to ever hit up old flames and just see "what's up".
And I'm not saying that ever married couple needs to do this. At all. And honestly, we'd probably be fine with separate accounts. But for me, it was a safeguard and a way of saying "I'm not going to try to hide things from you". I honestly don't see what's so "weird" with trying to set yourself up to NOT fail. You can talk about being strong and in a more healthy relationship, but over the years, with the marriages I've seen completely crumble, NOBODY is ummune to misstep. You can posture all day about that, but it can happen to anyone.
Plus, I hate facebook and I'm never on it now. It might as well just be her's.

When I see a joint account I'll message the wife and ask her out for drinks and then put something like "hope your husband doesn't read this"

I've made it clear to my gf if we get married there will be joint nothing. No joint FB, no joint bank account, no joint signing on a mortgage, etc.

That's a long post to say "I'm a pussy".

I was pretty confused by this post until I realized you're probably a woman.
Yep. I guess that not being clear would make that very confusing.

Because I don't insist on joint FB accounts?

Jesus. If there's really that much distrust, then perhaps neither of y'all should use social media.

I think Joint Facebook accounts are lame and dumb. Don't understand why people have them unless one partner doesn't trust the other.

Meh, I'm married and an ex-girlfriend messaged me on facebook the other day. I told my wife, "look at this loser trying to reach out to me" and we both laughed about it. If you're not a shady fricker, I don't see this as an issue.

Yeah. It's always that simple.

did you forget that the little rectangular electronic device you play games on and play on facebook with is a phone

If you're not a piece of shite, it should be.

Facebook in general is lame and dumb. Never understood the draw for a guy to have an account unless he is trying to pick up women or is a beta fricktard. Now my wife is all about FB. She posts all kind of family pics and stuff. She probably also talks to some Jody too that I don't know about.

Well, my wife uses my email account. She doesn't do the internet. Big book reader. She has no FB, but I do, I guess. Last time I posted on it was over 5 years ago
