re: Husband/Wife Facebook Accounts...Why do people get joint FB accounts?

This couple is late 40s. The woman is my cousin, and both are pretty normal, down to earth people. I could see maybe one of her crazy friends told her it was a good idea perhaps. "They" post like 3-5 times a year about soccer playoffs or school dance pics or something. I'll inquire next time I see them.

No, quite the opposite. Easier to manage one account than two separate ones, especially if you don't look at it often. Also, if you are married, then you know most of the same people (or know of them) anyway, so who cares...keeps everything on one account.

He does and he's mad about it

Who do you think has control of the account?

We have our own Gmail accounts (I have about 5), but I definitely use my wife's when something asks for an email and I don't want the spam.

Smart move imo. Since the majority cheat anyways

Actually, I don't. Wife has one, I don't even have one, nor do I want one. Just don't think it's that weird to consolidate the account if you can. Some people have too many other things going on than to worry about spending more time on the internet. But if you think it makes them weird, then feel free to think it.
Fixed it. Yeah, that wasn't what I meant to say. Came out wrong.

How would one person need to check/manage both accounts if you each have a separate account? Makes no sense. You must not understand how fb works.

I only check my account. Why would I need to check 2 accounts?

Why would I be checking two separate accounts? My wife's account isn't mine so I don't want to check it.

If one thinks they need to check theirs and their wife's account so they consolidate to make it easier, yeah it's fricking weird.

My dad and his wife have separate accounts, but I'm pretty sure she posts for both. My dad just asked me how to send pics that I sent him via text to other people, so I'd be shocked if he knew how to use Facebook the way that his account is used.
His wife is also the type of person that would judge the frick out of joint accounts, and also want it to appear that my dad is engaging, so I can see this being the workaround.

My wife fricking hates Facebook. I don’t even think she still has an account.

I was going to delete it, but I have a 100+ day streak on timehop so I don't want to lose it.

I don’t know what that is but I’ve thought about deleting mine too but it is a useful tool for various situations.
I use it quite a bit for work which makes it worth keeping.

FB is great for being able to reach someone (and to be reached). I don't need it that often, but it's worth keeping around for that reason alone.

My husband never checks his.

I don't know anyone with a joint account. For the most part, it's always the wife and her friends posting shite. The hubby ain't littering up his stuff with diet recipes and baby pictures.

No. I consider this more of an old fashioned thing. Every couple living in the same household shares the same physical mail address. Sharing an email is in step with that. Today, I would find it a little weird, but I would be more understanding 10-20 years ago.

These are usually pretty cringe.
