One thing often forgotten about that game cancelation, is that it wasn't canceled because of expected weather conditions in Gainesville. At the time the game was canceled, a Cat 4 was expected to rake the coast between Daytona and Jax, 70 miles from Gainesville. Gainesville was going to be the staging point for much of the recovery effort in the aftermath, and they didn't want the added strain of a gameday in Gainesville to interfere with it.
Boo F'ing Hoo.
LSU played a football game with the Pete Maravich Assembly Center across the street from the stadium still being used as a triage center from Katrina. STFU

Maybe Apple will trademark IStorm. They can use Ivan, Ida, Irma, and Ian to promote it.

I am seeing one path showing it coming in just below Perry, FL. Aboot 1 mile from the coast, right along the projected path, are a couple of big mobile home communities.
If it doesn't change, those folks can kiss the baby.

ETA: Tampa Fox news is showing it coming in 35ish miles NW of there, close to Port Leon, FL.

Yeah it was canceled because Florida desperately needed a bye week with all their injuries and suspensions.

It would be impossible for a hurricane to hit anywhere in FL and not hit a couple of big mobile home communities

And the hotels were expected to be full of evacuees, the roads full of bucket trucks and their support units as well as first responders.
An influx of LSU fans into that environment was avoided simply because UF had a few injuries.
I'll STFU now.

That is a legit argument to have. But I'm sure the financial implications were very complex.

Which is the issue.
We moved the 2005 game to Arizona State. USC moved a game to Tiger Stadium and we donated all proceeds to the relief effort.
