10% chance of something forming?

Good enough for The Weather Channel to name it something.

Maybe "Super Sub-Tropical Disturbance Xenu."

Cue the dramatic music.

18z NAM total accumulated rainfall through July 4th:

It's not going to be widespread rain at all times, but bands throughout each day.

ETA - Most of the heavier rainfall should be west of LA by the 4th.

So this isn’t a good time to take the new yacht out?

Actually it's a perfect time to test it on the streets of New Orleans

That a great way to get yachtjacked.

At this point, I’m begging for a non-destructive tropical system for the the region.

In NWLA I’ve gotten 1.5 inches of rain since June 1st and that was three episodes of 1/2 inch.

Only got an inch and a quarter in May. Maybe a little more than that in May because we had one storm where my station wasn’t reporting.

At any rate, it’s only 2 days into July and it’s been dry as a bone for 2 months. This is gonna be bad if we don’t get a slow soaker off the Gulf at some point.

How is this setting up different from August 2016?

Slightly less water to work with and actually moving this time. By this point with August 2016, models were throwing 20" around for the area. Most I've seen here is in the 5-6" range.
