Damn, that is an impressively narrow cone of uncertainty. Kick arse weather science baws!

Should be fine? Pretty much general consensus this thing is going to be torn apart.

TD2 is an interesting little system but it should be short lived given the combo of dry air, cooler than normal water temps, suppression and shear.
There are a number of different atmospheric waves that move across the tropics and they all play roles in modulating tropical convection. An atmospheric Kelvin wave just moved across the Atlantic and that likely kick started TD2 but it will also inhibit the system in the future. Think of the blue contours as rising air and the red as sinking:
The suppressed (red contours) phase of the Kelvin wave will move over the system over the next few days. Shear will also increase as the system moves closer to the Islands.
If that wasn't bad enough, the system will also be dealing with a lot of dry air:
Notice the difference in the clouds and haze on either side of the red line, this matches up well with the current GFS:
Then on top of all of that, waters are cooler than normal:
All of that said, the system is currently in a low shear environment and could intensify more than expected in the short term but weakening before the Islands looks like a sure bet.

Those charts and science are all well and good. But I’ll wait for PJs opinion.

What's the idea behind reusing obscure-as-frick names like "Beryl"

Storms should only be given some generic designation, and not named until after the fact, and only if they are worthy of a name. If named, they should be given a cool name. Hurricane Katrina should be "Hurricane Bitch" or "Hurricane MegaDeath 05."

I'll be in Jamaica Wednesday; hoping Hurricane Beryl isn't planning on the same itinerary.

Once again...it looks like Haiti is gonna take it in the arse.
Punta Cana vacations also appear in jeopardy.

First hurricane of the season. Panic time.
Time for people to start giving their gut feelings on this thing.
OP needs to get his shite together and update.

Gut feeling Beryl gets eviscerated by shear in the next few days.

Needs a new thread. This one started about a disturbance near the northern gulf coast.
