Even a strong TS to mid level Cat 1 is going to be a dangerous prospect for us this year. It’s truly amazing the idiots in charge have let get this bad

Yeah this isn't going to develop much, but heavy, tropical rain will be an issue.

Similar to what developed back during Aug 16 flood, never became a tropical storm - forecast does not call for as much rain as that event.

How is this setting up different from August 2016?

Low pressure moving east to west along the coast with a ton of available moisture in the air. This low moving faster?

People get too caught up in strengths of a storm based on if it’s named and what category it is. That doesn’t have much to do with the amount of rainfall any sort of tropical system will bring.
