Maybe I'm talking out of my arse but it seems to me most tv meteorologists simply provide forecasts based on models. Give opposing model forecasts and bam, never wrong! Covers all bases. How did meteorologists predict weather before models became a thing?

On the regular weather here they show you more than one model. Often each has s as different solution; thus they cover themselves.
Then they go with the NWS forecast.

They really are just a skilled messenger service.

I'm just waiting for the, "They ALWAYS predict an above average hurricane season!".

It never fails someone says that, and every single time someone says it they are wrong.

All I know is that they always predict an above average hurricane season, and it never turns out that way.

That's too easy, Oates. I'd feel ashamed if I were you.

My YouTube weather guy says really nothing through most of September. He mentioned a slight, slight chance of something in the gulf that would spin up off of a front.

Everytime people talk about a slow start... I think of Andrew.

First named storm of the season. Hit FL on Aug 24... so 12 days later than today's date.

I will be in Cape San Blas next month the weekend after Labor Day, so go ahead and bet the house that there will be a very active tropical system in the northern gulf during that weekend.
