Lol this annoying liberal sounding woman from Illinois was called over by Jim and she was like we're staying and excited for the strom and Jim was caught off guard. He was thinking dumb bitch you're not helping me hype up our certain death narrative.

Yeah and little kids doing cartwheels behind him

Lol I saw that Boat. It sure did seem like Jim coached her up

This may be a dumb question but if a storm is moving 20mph, does that make the relative wind speeds on the west side 20mph less?
Honest question if oddly worded. Winds on the west coming in from relatively north with the storm moving in the opposite direction. Is there any cancelling out of forces to be done?

Might be strengthening a little bit here, but there is no eye feature outside of radar.

Miss Abrams is trying too hard to sound Cajun right now

Good thing Nate hasn’t got another day over water. Looks like he’s ready to get nasty.

I think that may be correct

Eta:Like I said, dumb question
Yes, usually.
Traditionally, the pressure gradient pretty much dictates that the winds should be the same in all quadrants, but that's only if the storm is stationary. Once it starts moving, let's say it's moving north, then the winds on the east side will be enhanced by the forward motion and the winds on the west side will be minus the forward speed, all else being equal.

Slackster or somebody posted a pic a couple days ago that explains it, but essentially yes. Also the 4am NHC discussion said no hurricane force winds found on the west side.

News in NOLA is trying their damndest to make this relevant to the city

This storm in particular is also still lopsided

Every news channel in New Orleans keeps talking about a western shift in the track

I'm not sure about an eye but Nate has some very deep convection with overshooting tops and gravity waves. Looks like some dry air trying to wrap in from the west, the models saw this and that is one of the reasons they kept Nate in check on the trip across the Gulf. Nate is trying to close off the eye but running out of time.

Lots of areas south of NOLA watch those stations and are affected by the shift.
