'm 40 miles from the gulf in Hillsborough County and I am sticking around. I don't want to cause worse traffic issues for those in evacuation zones. I know it's going to suck and will suck for a while, but everyone running for the exits at the same time is going to just make everything worse. There are people who are risking their life if they don't evacuate. I am risking not having power for a couple of weeks. I don't want to be part of the reason anyone decides to turn around and ride it out in a place with storm surge risk.

If you are that far inland.. gas up your car, have some cash on hand, and have a plan to leave after the storm passes, going south or north depending upon landfall.

Tampa Bay will be changed forever if this verifies. The amount of homes and businesses in that area are staggering.

And it hasn’t seen a direct hit in 100 years so a ton of those buildings aren’t built to modern hurricane codes

Those weather modificators really got it out for Gov. DeSantis for acting “all smug” like he’s got his state 100% prepared for this disaster.

Just need to make sure I can find enough gas/water for a week.

I filled up yesterday and got an extra 10 gallons. The Canadian will fill up today. Many stations are dry. Did you find some yet?

Definitely. We have a family friend in Lutz, FL staying to stick it out. If I were them, I’d be hightailing it out of there.

Hurricane Milton - RAPIDLY INTENSIFIES TO CATEGORY 5 - Tampa Area Under the Gun

Yep. Katrina was a cat 3 with cat 5 storm surge. Tampa is about to get wrecked. Sucks to see.

If I am in the path of a Cat 5 there is no chance in hell I am sticking around. Even if you survive just fine, the next few days and weeks will be hell.

GTFO and deal with the aftermath

SFMR isnt working right and we will not have real time data from that during this storm. Well, that seems...interesting.

That’ll get the conspiracies going

So if it’s at 175 right now what is it really at based off the recent storms being that the true wind speeds when they made landfall are no where near what they were supposed to be? 130?

I havn't followed this storm as closely as I do most but from what I've seen I'm very impressed with the cone guys. None of this wishy washy move it around nonsense. They are sticking to their guns like they used to do in the 70s-80s.

When are we getting the cold front that's supposed to yank this towards Florida? It's hot as heck outside here in St George.
