Just drove south over the I-75 bridge going back to my house to tidy up some things ready and packed to ride this thing out in Port Charlotte tomorrow.

The harbor is absolute glass right now. No wind, slight drizzle, nobody really on the roads.

It's eerie as frick.

I have a feeling port Charlotte is going to get the brunt of the surge.

Thats there the upper trough is moving in.

If you check the 250mb or 300mb charts from the SPC, you can see it nicely.

Rode out Ian in the same house two years ago. Took a direct hit. House held up fine.

It's out of the flood zone as well.

The house is nearly 30 ft above sea level. There is still a slight possibility I'll go stay at my sister's house in Parrish. the reason I haven't decided, yet, to go up there is because is to be close to help friends out who live close,

Yeah, I've had a screw loose forever. But, again, I'm not doing this for thrill seeking at all. Just being closer to help out friends.

Loop current and starting to feel that trough (in a position of enhanced lift).

Has a window tonight to run up as strong as yesterday. Shear will also start to increase and at some point, will start to overcome the positives for supporting a high end hurricane.

Yet another interesting night of storm watching.

Recon currently in-storm, just inbound for first pass. Curious what we find under the hood.

The storm surge is what I'm really concerned about. I've already given into the idea that my house is going to be flooded....bigly. I'm about a mile away from Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda. My buddy's house went through Ian w/ no problems and he's about 30ft elevation.

That's why I deal with storms with ground under them.
