Yes it is along with Captiva. Honeymooned at Casa Ebel in summer of 1985. One of the reason I retired to Tampa area after military.

May not quite make it under 900 again. And conditions become less than ideal in about 12 hours

Why's this one consistently have that other storm to its northeast? It's been looking like that for a couple days now.
Those satellite views of the eye are wicked.

What happened to the Doppler looking gif of the storm in the gulf in the OP?

How much ice do you estimate it would take?
40-50 pounds of ice per 100 gallons of water
One square mile of ocean 1 inch deep is 6,300,000 gallons of water
So ~ 3,000,000 pounds of ice per square mile an inch deep
Times that by 100 square miles and 50 feet deep.
So 3,000,000 x 12 x 50 x 100. Whatever that is

The gif there now has been the only one for quite some time, I believe.
What would you like to see?
Sometimes the bigger gifs slow the load time of the page...

Just tow some icebergs from the poles over. Duh.

It should weaken some as the eye wall replacement cycle happens (if one is truly happening). If Milton doesn’t fully recover from that before the wind shear increases, then it probably won’t bottom out again like it did today and yesterday. That said, it’s going to remain a powerful, major hurricane and the wind field will get larger even as it weakens.

Good news: the hurricane has fallen apart from cold water from icebergs.
Bad news: 489 Polar Bears were drowned, and the Gulf rose 15ft so everything one mile inland from Brownsville to Key West is underwater.
