I was going to be a comedian and do a heat transfer equation to get a ballpark answer but then I remembered I don't remember how to do that shite
That is the kind of napkin math that always intrigues me but after about 3 seconds of thought, I realized it is effectively an open system with energy in the form of heat rushing in from all directions. You would need a sophisticated program with significant computing power to get even napkin close, not to mention a ton of real time data on the system.
The issue with cooling massive systems is that pesky theoretical limit of -273 Kelvin (some OCD fricker is about to break his keyboard typing out -273.15, not today Mr. Akshually). On the other hand, when heating things up we can produce absolutely massive positive deltas over standard temperature. In the end, if you think about it the Earth is a relatively cold place even a Lousiana August afternoon.
I hope everyone stays safe and I also hope those that have chosen to ride it out still agree with their choice late Thursday afternoon.

Good for Tampa.
You bugging out?
Our plan right now is to remain locked down and ride. I slowed down on the drinking a few month ago and tonight I have been freaking out a little.
I really picked a bad time to slow down drinking. I know its still 24 hours away but a few of those windy.com/Ventusky apps, have the southern wall coming over my head

I live in a big neighborhood that has about 250 homes completed and occupied. I bet 80% of them are here riding it out. Tons of people with kids and even older people.
And Im the one nervous AF

Yeah, I'm in the hurricane watch now on the treasure Coast unfortunately. Port Saint Lucie is in the hurricane warning as well

At least you are up to hurricane code.

Looking at those latest 00z models, Sanibel and Marco are gonna be wiped out again. This storm has consistently trended east of its projected track all day and continues to do so. To get back on course, we need to see a northward push tonight.

Per some dude on S2K, the X marks where the NHC projected Milton to be at 2am vs where he is now:

I’m pretty sure the only thing that may work to stop tropical cyclogenesis would be a high altitude nuclear detonation. Warm up the upper atmosphere so much that it kills convection. shite i don’t know maybe it’d strengthen it.
That’s how you get a storm like on Jupiter.

So funny I just came back to edit it to Celcius. I was so wrapped up in the Akshually joke I left myself fully naked.

Dumb possibility of the Day
Can’t they just hit the front eye wall with an Atom Bomb to disrupt the formation?
Sounds reasonable.

Guys I was just messing around about the ice. I'm sure there is something we haven't thought of though. I was just trying to bring conversation and ideas to the subject.

Yea I think so. New home, concrete construction, tile roof. No trees and I don’t believe the water can get here from the ocean by using the tools you guys posted. There is a vacant new home next to me that is a two story. If the water somehow came to us, I’m breaking in that bastard and using their upstairs. LOL.

The gif there now has been the only one for quite some time, I believe.
That’s the one I was looking for. Slow loading was the issue. Thanks again. You storm mods are the best. My family made it to Tifton, GA and still driving. I feel a lot better they decided to leave.
