There is a guy staying on about a 20’ sailboat in Tampa Bay who plans on riding the storm out.

Damn thing keeps sliding south. I have friends down in Fort Myers/Cape Coral that lost everything in Ian. I hate this for them.

Throw a spec of an ice cube in your bathtub and let me know what it does. And the scale isn't even close to what you're proposing.

Yes, but Levi said something about the shear moving north away from Texas and that it may not have the impact they once thought.

The further south this thing goes, the more worried I get that Sebring might see the eye.

we could get huge chunks or even crushed ice on huge ships and dump it in the path of the hurricane to get the water close to freezing. It would weaken the hurricane instantly and possiby save hundreds of lives and billions in damage.

But it likely won't be a category five at landfall and NHC predicts a very small wind field.
NHC has been mentioning for days now that the wind field will expand when Milton weakens prior to landfall. Wind field could double in size.

Alligator Alley is 75 east/west. I see the sign every day when I exit to my house…
What? Do you have a pic or some kind of proof of that? Even when 75 is heading due east across Alligator Alley it's still I75 South. I live down here too.

Of course. But doubling in size from 15 to 30 miles of hurricane force winds isn’t that insane for hurricanes.
Once again, not trying to downplay any of this. I’m just really curious about all of the new storm surge models they have and exactly where Milton will go in at. Right now it’s trending south from what I can see and would seemingly spare Tampa of the worst of the surge.

Let's not bring the lunatic fringe into the discussion tonight.
Last night was bad enough with getting off the rails.

Agreed. And people don’t realize the warm water in this area is about 200 feet deep.

Speaking of, another update of the wind field:
NW quadrant weakening. Undergoing an ERC it looks like now.
