I just glued a barometer linked to my phone to a piece of pvc pipe with a mini parachute.

Gonna see if my cropduster buddy will take me up into Milton in his Cessna, I’ll get a central pressure reading for y’all. If I give him a bottle of whiskey he will probably do it. He did ask me not long ago if I wanted to mix a drink one evening and fly around the delta, he does it all the time

General summary of latest hurricane models and GFS:

HWRF - Clearwater (north of Tampa Bay)
HMON and GFS - Over TSP
HAFS-A and HAFS-B - Bradenton/Sarasota (south of Tampa Bay)

Pressure and winds are 940s / 950s - Cat 3 but who knows since models were initialized with way too high of pressure.

At this point, the models are pretty set in place. They will likely either be very accurate or off by a little one way or another.

Once he gets in radar range tomorrow morning, then the wobble watching can begin.

It’s being influenced by the 4th strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic basin bearing down on a metropolitan area of over 3 million that sits literally right on a bay in a low lying area that hasn’t had a direct hit from a hurricane in over 100 years, meaning most buildings aren’t built to modern hurricane code to withstand such a brutal storm and surge.
This ought to about sum up it all up, imo.

I haven't checked in since page 111 or so, but this evening headed back home I heard an update on the radio that it went back up to a cat 5.

Tldr: Are they still thinking this sum bitch is going to weaken with the shear?

Gotcha. My in-laws have a mid-rise condo about mid-island around Bayfront Park, they’re not optimistic about it still being there after Milton comes through.

We are more north close to Whitney Beach. Bought the home to eventually tear down and build our retirement home but the tear down might be accelerated by 20 years thanks to Milton.

Yes, but Levi said something about the shear moving north away from Texas and that it may not have the impact they once thought.

Wouldn’t you be?

Hurricane Hunting probably started out something like this:

“Hey Jim Bob bet you won’t fly into that hurricane”

“I bet I will!”

“No you won’t you pussy”

“Hold my beer”

I don't understand why we haven't found a way to weaken these hurricanes. Instead of all the billions wasted on Ukraine we could get huge chunks or even crushed ice on huge ships and dump it in the path of the hurricane to get the water close to freezing. It would weaken the hurricane instantly and possiby save hundreds of lives and billions in damage.
