They use emergency shoulder lanes and other measures. Its not some stupid oversight. Its an intentionally thought-out strategy.
I never used the word “stupid”, that was you. I was making an observation based on how we, in Louisiana, understand evacuating large amount of people before a natural disaster. Try not to be so defensive and sensitive, Sally.

Contra-flow could cause more problems than it solves and takes time to effectively implement.
I’m glad Louisiana’ s leadership was able to figure out what works for us because before we installed contra-flow, evacuating was a shite show

Shifting a little to the south?
I'll bet Disney World is responsible for that.

Tampa/Sarasota probably wouldn't mind it going at least another 50-70 miles further south

My weather app say it should be a Cat2 at landfall

Contraflow is likely never going to be used again now that these storms are ramping up so quick in the gulf. The plan needs 72 hours to work and requires mandatory evacuations from parishes that wont issue those anymore either bc of what their responsibilities are once that is issued

Am I the only one a little annoyed that we don't have HH tag teaming Milton around the clock until landfall?

If the shear doesn’t impact this storm as previously expected the anxiety is going to get a whole lot worse for people in the direct path that were already anxious watching the RI yesterday.

Have you looked at the contraflow map?
I-10 West from NOLA to LaPlace. Entire rest of I-10 is normal flow)
only other interstates with Contraflow is I-55 and I-59 heading north.
from Tampa, you have to decide if you're going north or going south.
and being wrong can be catastrophic.
