Where can I go to find what winds were for a certain hurricane in a certain location??

We evacuated to ville platte for Lili and the eye went over (or that’s what they told me). Winds were awful — cows were in the pasture behind my parents
Home and lol at me but I was worried they’d blow away.

Won’t ever evacuate there again .. too many trees, even though they’ve taken some out since.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread, but I saw where the Tampa Mayor went on TV and told folks if they did not evacuate from areas of mandatory evacuation orders, they were going to die.

Yes, Lilly did a number on us here in Mamou. 70 miles inland, and but a handful of shingles remained on our roof.

Good luck and tread lightly.

The rain hasn't stopped for what feels like months. It's raining now. The grass you could walk to in the pond is 20 yards out. My neighbors picked up sandbags. My work emails are clueless.

This is the last 5 runs of the HAFS-B including the 12z that just ran.

There is very little change in landfall location. It's been locked on the bay.

Considering how well this model has handled this storm thus far, I would not be betting against it.

Looks like the EWRC is officially completed.

Side topic - The Weather Channel needs to bring back this hurricane theme music for Local on the 8s.

The most accurate way is to look up the final reports for whichever storm you're interested in. If it were for Laura you would look up, "Hurricane Laura National Hurricane Center final report". The reports are in PDF and have all valid information in them. They tend to be a lot more accurate than some of the aggregated overviews of storms.

It’s not easy or even possible to get as granular as Ville Platte for a storm that happened yesterday, much less 22 years ago, but Lafayette Regional had a 72mph gust and Alexandria measured a 60 mph gust, so Ville Platte was probably somewhere in between.

My dad was obsessed with watching Local on the 8s. He knew right where to find the weather forecast before we had a computer. They used to play Eric Johnson songs as theme music sometimes. I swear I heard Cliffs of Dover once while they were showing the weather

Heed the warnings of your local authorities. Riding out a major hurricane in no way makes you more of a man, it makes you a dumbass.

After what the people in North Carolina and Tennessee are going through I hope people take future warnings more seriously. It is kind of understandable in their situation....hurricanes doing that sort of damage and killing that many people that far from the coast are rare. I know a lot of people in Florida and the Gulf Coast of Texas and they all mostly ignore hurricanes. We have a niece in Mt. Dora as we speak who is not leaving....will probably be fine but who knows? The unspeakable horror of what is going on in NC and TN right now would make me more than happy to run away to fight next week.

To me that actually enforces my point to some extent that you could not even come close to experiencing Cat 2 or even Cat 1 conditions and have your property blown/washed away. Now imagine what it would be like to experience true cat 3+ conditions.

so people can go ahead and think that winds won't kill you if they'd like.
but I'm guessing had my neighbor been inside his home when the roof flew off and walls collapsed, his chance of survival would have taken a nose dive.

To quote the great Ron White......"It isnt THAT, the wind is blowin'.......its WHAT, the wind is blowin'.......if you get hit with a VOLVO, it doesnt really matter how many sit ups you did that morning."

But guys, im sure that Psych guy is right, nobody further than 10 miles from the shore is going to be in harms way. Just going to be inconvenienced

There is one black and white answer. If you live in a place where they tell you to evacuate then f**king evacuate!

OK, now do experimental Vaccines!

How about you go pitch a tent where Milton is supposed to make landfall and ride it out.

Are they predicting cat 3 at landfall now?

Yes, that is the current forecast. That said, people need to remember that the wind field of Milton will expand when it weakens, so the hurricane force winds will onset earlier, last longer, and cover a larger area. Same thing happened during Hurricane Katrina, for example.
