Tree's aren't a concern.

I live about a mile inland from the bay and bayou texar, but my house is in a neighborhood on a "hill," about 16-17 feet above sea level.

You'll be fine then. Just be prepared to be without power and water for a week. Make sure all your vehicles and/or generators are gassed up. Have some portable batteries charged up and ready to go to charge needed devices.

I'm sure you'd be fine unless this thing bombs the frick out and weakens just before landfall, before the surge has a chance to fall (similar to what happened with Katrina).

Have you checked your local storm surge maps? What neighborhood are you in? I'll see what I can find

Thanks a lot man.

I know exactly where you are...you should be fine if you're prepared. If that area floods, Pcola is underwater

I just don’t see a Cat 2 in this hostile environment

No way this system closes off the eye to strengthen to a 2 in that much shear.

Guess we are going to see what the European does here shortly... Does it shift in line with the others or does it hold strong over New Orleans

Maybe the Koreans and Europeans are in collusion

Yes but it takes perfect upper level conditions. Not just minimal shear but an anticylcone placed to ventilate.

Isaias might get a little jet enhancement but this is certainly not benign upper air conditions its gonna plow into.

After (I think) Zeta in New Orleans a few years ago it was downright cold/cool after the storm. We were out of power for about 3 days but had gas and hot water.

It was a genuinely great 3 days. Windows were open. Neighbors were a grilling through their freezers. My kids were young enough that bedtime was right around sunset and I’m not sure they even knew we didn’t have power.

Felt like our street was just a big camp ground for a few days.

That story notwithstanding if I think we won’t have power for any period of time we leave. Being without power sucks.

You're good from a surge standpoint. This is set for a category 3 hurricane and it appears the surge won't even touch you.

Well yeah. That's because Zeta hit on October 28. The weather is supposed to be nice then.
