No jet stream into west.
Instead its diving in from canadian plains.
I am hoping that after irma goes up east coast, weather pattern is jet stream west to east again. The west is choking on smoke from forest fires.
Pls, wind and mousture.

From Charleston to the NC Outer banks OBX. I remember one Hurricane that the weather was worse in Burgaw than the coast. Hurricanes tend to skirt chase and SIT here. The Cape Fear River pulls it in like a magnet.

no place here for this.

At the moment, this storm has one of the worst looking computer models about its strength. Probably won't end up being, but this storm has potential of being one of the worst of all time.

Considering each category of hurricanes spans roughly 15 millibars of pressure and Category 5's are from < 920 mb, a 895 mb forecast could be argued that it should be a mythical Category 6.

Guessing what a model might do is a fools errand but this run might go into Florida.

Where do you live Cajun? I lived in Long Beach back in '76 -'77. I'm sure there's a lot more houses since then. We just moved to Hilton Head from Houston last December for work and have a home in Central FL. Keeping a close eye on this to see where we need to be.

what's worrisome to me is that the GFS is continuing to slow it down

yesterday's 12z run had it making landfall in NC on 9/11

today's 12z run has it still ripping the Bahamas a new a-hole on 9/11

ETA: or should I say just leaving from ripping the Bahamas a new a-hole

When you say Long Beach you mean Carolina Kure beaches, correct? Pleasure Island. *I just noticed on one of the maps I posted---that it said long beach The boardwalk with Britts donuts and Northend is great.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like this storm isn't getting near the coverage it deserves right now on the national stage
