I have a hotel around Warner Robins from Friday to Tuesday. Supposed to take my boards in Macon on Monday. Have tried 3 times to relocate it, but they won't let me.

So...if I'm able to do it, it'll free up that room

, I'm sure the turn will happen, I just don't know how to see it in a map.

This map is overlaid with theta-e isotherms. In (incredibly) simple terms, it's an effective temperature of the air at the surface taking moisture and ambient temperature into account. Convective potential is roughly based on the temperature difference between the surface and the highest part of the atmosphere. This number takes into account that the process of condensing water slows the cooling rate of moist air, keeping the air warmer longer as it rises providing for additional buoyancy to lift higher. This is probably painfully simplistic for guys like rds or baytiger, but I hope it conveys the right idea.

The point of all this is to show the potential heat energy for Irma to work with is increasing as she gets toward the warm gulf stream waters right off the Florida coast. This might be what the GFS is picking up on for the really low pressures it shows Irma achieving near a Florida landfall.

Other factors like shear and the internal structure of Irma can and will serve to limit just how much stronger she will get, but this map shows the potential for farther strengthening is there in the coming days.

Probably. Andrew was always known as a small storm pre-Florida.
