Some of ILM NC could be in the right of that big nuke bomb of a storm. My local news just reported that I think it was Jose; was heading straight for us when Irma is done with her detonation.

I've been following this thread since it's inception and, while I have nothing substantial to contribute, I just wanted to pop in and thank y'all for all of your input on this thing. Now that I can breathe a little easy, I must commend you for easing my mind when I was ready to pack my bags and head to Tennessee.

That's crazy.

You think that's crazy? Right this instant, the NWS station at the airport in San Juan is only showing sustained winds of 41 mph. The airport is right on the water on the North side of the island and the hurricane is passing to their North and is just to the Northeast of them, so it's still coming closer to them as it passes by. Even assuming that the video shown is in a bad band that missed or hasn't reached the airport yet and the wind in the video is hitting another part of San Juan with twice what the airport is measuring (so about 80 mph), the fastest winds in Irma would still be about 100 mph more than THAT. If the winds in that video were 120 mph, Irma's highest winds would still be 60 mph higher. Jeff's video from Harvey? Irma's winds would pass up the winds in Jeff's video like a car passing you standing on the side of the road.

Wrap your noodle around that one.

EDIT: Pretty impressive radar scan of a double eyewall just off Puerto Rico's cost right now, BTW.

This MF needs to find a way to turn north faster so it can avoid the coast. This shite is going more W than WNW. Yes it is going N but it needs to be gaining more latitude.

Think we hit a trillion dollars in hurricane damage between Irma and Harvey?

Sorry for the totally ignorant question, and I know it's been asked somewhere before, but what does "18Z GFS" mean?
