I'm not sure what the poster meant by impact and significant, but Mathew had weakened below a major hurricane level when it was closest to the coast, and the eye still managed to stay offshore, albeit close enough to do damage. A direct hit as a major hurricane would be significantly more damaging.

Dammit this is matthew all over again! really getting nervous here in jax. When matthew went right by us i got really nervous . This thing will have me freaking out

I think we may actually fare better than Matthew if it keeps trending east.

Another year of coastal evacuations. Increased tourism revenue for Columbia!

The supplies will be tough for a few weeks but money isn’t an issue for the US.

This is where the US Military screwed up when they decommissioned the NSA New Orleans. New Orleans was home to dozens of NSA disaster emergency ships for situations just like this. Now we only have two large Navy vessels under the MARAD's Ready Reserve Force to handle a Miami or Houston type disaster. The MV Cape Kennedy and the MV Cape Knox are at the Poland Street Wharf.

I'm sure the Trump Administration has already loaded these two ships up unless they are in Beaumont delivering goods. These two ships are 4, 5, 10, and 20 day readiness ships.

The US used to have 2,900 of these ships and now we are down to only 94 in the entire US.

For real though, I'm getting the rest of my preparations taken care of today. Not waiting till the last minute.

Yeah, I'm stocking up on water and supplies this evening. My generator started up this AM, so I need to stock up on some gas. Even being 150 mi inland, this storm scares the shite out of me.

As long as no identifying information was given it should be HIPAA compliant.

Things are still pretty normal here at the beach. Bottled water is gone and somewhat longer lines at gas stations but overall, very relaxed.

Yeah, the coast would be within the eye wall's intensity. It would still be very bad.

I wish this thing would hook back north and out to sea.

Yeah. IBM, Google, Dell or Amazon need to step in, get some free advertising out of it, and port his site over to one of their server farms.

Try more obscure places for water like dollar stores and ace hardware.

Can pick up empty 5 gal bottles at walmart too and fill them with tap water.

That seems like a worst case for the east coast of FL.

Yep the governor declared one earlier. Horry county is going to have their emergency operations center up by Friday.

Were you called up for Matthew? If so, what did you do?

Why freak out over bottles water when a person can just fill up jugs and bottles with tap water ahead of time?
